It was on Auction Arms and I placed a fair bid on it and expected to get outbid, but ended up getting an email that said "You Win"..:irked:

Not complaining, as the price was fair, and the gun's way better than expected. That said, it's not like my other carbines, and I have some questions for those in the know.. :hail: Click on the photos to make them bigger.

The stock's marked RMC, or something like that. Some of the other stampings on the stock I've seen before, but some are new to me.




The hand gaurd is marked Pederson, and then a big "U"..


The trigger housing is the WIERD one.. It's basically laminated?? Looks like it started out as stampings that were silver soldered or brazed together? I found a "U" in the mag well, so I'm guessing it's Underwood?




The hammer's lighter colored than the rest of the group, but I haven't found a mark on it.


It came with a 15 round mag, marked IR, which is circled.. Not sure who that is..

The stock/handguard/metal fitup isn't bad.. I'd like a little more push requred to lock the action into the stock, but it's not bad.. The wood matching isn't bad, and the stock really doesn't need anything. He was a Marine in a mortar squad in WWII so he had sentimental connections to carbines. If what he told me was true, he purchased the carbine surplus after the war or something to that... So basically I now have an IBM M1 Carbine sitting in front of me. As far as I can tell all the parts seem original. The barrel is stamped 11-43 with what looks like a torch and flame beneath the barrel date stamp. I can get more information if needed, but basically does this mean that the gun was made in 1943 by IBM and etc. What info can I get from this gun? Like where it might have been used and etc. Is there any way the story behind this gun can be tracked besides word of mouth? I know that's far fetched but I would love to know everything about this gun because its my favorite gun I own.

I sent in my paperwork 9/28, so figure it took a day to get there. I ordered as a new customer. They charged my card 10/23 and delivery date was 10/28. This is quite shy of 2-3 months promised, so far my experience has been positive. Let's hope my Garand clears fast as well.

I didn't make it in time for the ammo. I probably shouldn't have been so honest and checked the website before I mailed it, or else they might've filled my order anyway.

(and didn't lose a single case while I was at it)
I think the Carbine would be a great gun for short range hunting of some of the bigger varmints and small game animals in the bobcat to small hog size range. Bet some guys in Texas are using it for whistle pigs.

Anybody got a game favorite reload they'd like to share?

I'd like to scope this carbine without having to drive out the rear sight and the Ultimak base that just replaces the handguard looks like just what I need. Has anyone used this? Got a critique of it?
