I have shot Federal light shots and it only fired about 42 of 50 rounds. I went today and attempted to fire Remington Slugs from it and it didn't fire @ all. I then fired a 3 in Federal slug from it, and it fired 3 of 5 shots. I took it to the gun smith and he couldn't find anything really wrong with it. He fired 10 shots of federal and it fired fine. He said that I needed to find caps where the dimples were not so deep. The remington sluggers were completely flat. The Winchester and Federals had nice dimples. Since I had never used Winchester I got a "small load" of those and shot all 25 shells without a problem. Has anyone else had this issue? I am looking at 2 Rossi single shot rifles.
1 is a .44 Mag, the other is in 7.62X39.
I have heard, and it is a fact, that the NEF Handi-Rifle will not fire the many versions of cheap military ammo on the market. As the main purpose of this gun is a "fun gun" or some call them "plinker's" , I do not want to buy $20.00/per 20 rds ammo for it just to make it go bang.
QUESTION: Will the Rossi rifles fire the Mil-Surp ammo?

$30/box stuff is ok for deer hunting. But not for just shootin at misc. jugs/cans/paper.

As for the .44 Mag, a freind of mine is set up to reload for that round, and can make up some 44 Special grade target / plinking rounds for about $15 per 50 rds.

I have also concidered getting another NEF in .357 Mag. But would like to give the Rossi rifles a try, and oddly enough there is no listing in .357 from Rossi.

Does anyone have experiance with any of the above mentioned rifles in the mentioned callibers?

I know from a freind the Rossi .223 and .243 rifles shoot OK. This is my first Shotgun just so you know. I was wondering if anybody could tell me what I've got here. Here are the numbers:
A. Rossi S.A. 20 GA. 3" MOD.(this is on the top of the barrel just in front of the hammer I wonder what the A. means) SP326300(this is on the left side of the gun in front and above the trigger guard, I have no idea what it is).

I would just like to know what model I've got, and if I have one that I can buy more barrels for. I typed all this info in on Rossi's website and didn't get anything.

Also I would like to know if you guys that use 20 GA on small game are actually eating the animal afterwards, because this seems like a big gun to use on squirrel, rabbit, and coon to me?
