I took the plunge today and put money down on a PTR-91 FC. I got what I think is a pretty good deal, $1,000 and I see that elsewhere they are listed at $1,250.

Hi all,

I took the plunge today and put money down on a PTR-91 FC. I got what I think is a pretty good deal, $1,000 and I see that elsewhere they are listed at $1,250.

I am planning on paying off the rest tomorrow and taking it home. I will be going to the range on Saturday to put it through its paces and then I am sure I will be scratching my head trying to figure out how to take the thing apart and, more importantly, put it back together.

This is my first entry into the G3 type rifles and I hope it will be a good one.

Remember a solid recoil and am curious whether it was designed to be sort of an "AK" of the west, being a bit shorter than the FN FAL. Seventeen NATO countries, plus many more.

Back ordered for 4 months... I just got my brugger and thomet scope mount in for my CETME and I'm excited!

I haven't posted for awhile. So let me update you on my rifle.

It's an early model century arms Cetme, a thicker reciever Cetme which doesn't allow claw style mounts without alot of modding such as filing to the mount, which I didn't want to do. I read about the Brugger and thomet mount and decided to splurge on one. Only good choice left! 179 bux later and 4 months of waiting it arrived.

The scope is a Barska 6-24x with med Warne quick detach rings. I will probably replace the scope in the future. Maybe with a posp russian 8x. The Barska isn't the greatest, looks mean lol but the front sight is shadowed a bit on high power. It's not the clearest scope on the world either but for now it will do just fine.

Took it out and shot it with winchester white box. I had a few flyers. but with the crappy ammo I was able to get about 2moa out of the rifle. I think it could do better with match ammo.

The scope mount is mounted forward due to the low rings. I took the scope off another project of mine. However the cheek weld is very good and there is not eye relief issues. overall I'm happy with the mount. Very solid and I believe that I could detach a scope and it would still hold zero.

Anyway, post comments if ya would, I'd like to know what ya all think!:nervous:

Got my new Cetme from Century today. I have to say I was somewhat apprehensive after all the bad talk I had read on them.

It was very well finished. Neat welds. Bolt gap of .009. No grinding on bolt. Bolt measured 1.835.

I wasn't crazy about the mag loader they sent with it. The G3 mags didn't fit it (I think). G3 mags seem to fit better in the mag well than the Cetme mags.

16" barrel was new chrome lined. Function was perfect. Fired 4 rounds of Barnaul (it was after dark but I wanted to check function).

Needless to say I am very happy and think it will make an excellent rifle. I would not hesitate to buy another one.
