I am pretty new to muzzleloader shooting and hunting, i have had a flintlock .50cal tradations for a few years and i have shot it about 45-50 times. and i have built a Kentucky long rifle kit that is a percussion cap and its brother the pistol kit, the rifle has not been shot but the pistol has been. and last year for christmas i got a CVA wolf 50 cal and i have shot it alot trying to sight in the scope i put on it.

in the flintlock i shot a sabot and loose powder and its not all that had to reload till you get to about the 4th shot then its time to clean,
:feedback:
with my in line i am only able to shot 2-3 rounds im shooting th
e power belt arrow tips with pyrodex pellets,

my Question to you folks that know alot more about these rilfes than i do is there a cleaner burning powder than the pyrodex pellets so i dont have to clean my rifle at the range every 3 shots??

i have had several threads on here about my optima, so far ya'll or cva have help straighten them out. this time i have question about barrel to frame tightness, when i take the forearm off and hold the stock tight there is a slight movement side to side.i can't see it but can feel it just a little, there is no up and down movement. with the forearm on there is no movement, i tried my other optima the one i've never fired and its the same way. with the forearms on they are tight but take the forearms off and there is slight movement. is this normal?, i contacted cva again and they said its ok to have movement with the forearm off, but it should be tight with the forearm on. have any of ya'll tried your's to see if they are tight with the forearm off? i'm not talking about a lot of wobble but if i hold the frame tight there is slight movement with the forearm off. thanks for any help.

Perrins of Worcester stared business in 1831 and we have found a number of muzzle loading guns - if you have one please get in touch. Here is a press release with contact details.
Perrins of Worcester, Gunmakers.

A group of Perrins Gun Owners have recently formed a club to pull together information on this gunmaker and set up a web site as a reference point.
The web site address is http://www.perrins-gunmaker-of-worcester.org.uk/. Membership is free and the only requirement is that you own a Perrins gun made in Worcester and you supply photos and detail for your own page on the web site.

If you own a Perrins, or know someone else who does, then get in touch. The e-m address is webmaster@perrins-gunmaker-of-worcester.org.uk

At the moment we have members who own Pepperpot pistols, converted rook rifles, percussion cap muzzle loaders, breach loading hammer guns in 20, 16, 14, 12 and 10 bore. We also have a member who has a very unusual ‘dummy hammer’ breach loading shotgun and another with an early side lock. We know there are many more out there as Holts sold a pin fire shotgun a few years ago and there is also an 8 bore double rifle, which was part of the W.Keith Neal collection. We also know of a 32 calibre rim fire revolver for sale at Kranks.

This family firm was founded in Worcester in 1831 and the latest gun we have found was proofed after 1896, so they were in business for around 65 year, covering one of the most innovative periods in gun making. We recently came across a 19 bore precision rifle for sale in Auckland with the engraving ‘Perrins & Son, Gun makers to HRH The Prince Consort, Winsor’ on the barrel. While Perrins are not considered one of the very top makers the quality and diversity of the different guns they made make this a fascinating firm to research and collect.
My question is, am i gonna be stuck with all 42" as that's a bit excessive for my plans, or should i be able to cut back a few inches, recrown with an abrasive dremmel bit turned by hand, and finish off any rough edges without seriously harming accuracy?

i just got thru cleaning my muzzleloader after sighting in 777 powder. i found a little rust in my gun nothing bad just light spot or two, i have used bore butter for years cause it was made for muzzleloaders. i have heard recently that its not the best for a muzzleloader and if not used just right it will cause rust to form. i went to my gun shop earlier and asked them, they said absolutely to not use any regular gun products in a muzzleloader. they said to use non pretroleum cleaning products, and bore butter or a natural rust preventive. i have used barricade for years in my other guns and none have any rust issues, will it be ok after cleaning my barrel to put barricade in it to prevent rust? thanks for any help.
