Here at work, we will have our annual T-day Dinner but with Roast Beef this year - so as to not to make us 'turkied out' before the holiday.

No close family, so I will either bum a meal with a buddy or have a 'turkey pizza' at home.

As ususal,

I will hickory smoke a turkey at or near the 20 pound weight.

Honestly, I do like smoked turkey but would go for (if the family would) something else to eat.

I would really like to bar-b-que a bunch of nice, thick, premium steaks.

Normally we have the usual, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & sweet potatoes, veggies, cranberry sauce (I prefer homemade but we have the canned stuff to), gravy and desserts like crazy. If we go to my grandparents house, my grandmother always serves fruit cocktail and than tortellini in chicken broth before dinner. At the end of the day, if your not sleeping, your rolling around the house.

If I'm stuck working, this year I got the holiday pick, we do a fried turkey with all the fixin's. It kind of sucks becuse there is only 3 of in the firehouse and the Chief of Department doesnt let other companies eat at other houses. We used to get 3 or 4 houses togethor and each house would bring something, kind of like a pot luck. Unfortunately theres a new regime in HQ.

We have turkey, ham, assorted salads and casseroles, sweet taters, dressing, varied vegetables, giblet gravy, mashed taters, cranberry sauce, LOTS of pumpkin pie with cool whip, and tons of assorted other pies and desserts.

We have always had ham as well as turkey, because my Grandmother didn't like turkey. She is gone now, but we are used to having ham, so it stays on the menu.

I forgot to mention the best parts of our Thanksgiving get-to-gathers....the annual trapshoot we have before dinner, and the Cowboy's game after dinner..shucks, it don't get no better then that! LOL my nephews are gettin' purdy good with the scattergun...I'll have to bring my A-game to retain my trapshooting crown! I hope Romo doesn't do something stupid (again) and put a damper on our Thanksgiving!

i got a 26lbs tom ill be baking. ill stuff a stick or 2 of butter not margerin up his rear, cut a slit in the skin on each breast and do about a half a stick of butter in each side, cut where his legs connect and do the same there, rub him down with a little sage, garlic, onion powder, and a small amount of cayenne pepper and cook him overnight for about 10-12 hours on the LOWEST setting wich for me is below 200. i use the drippings to make gravy. about the last 2 hours of cooking i stuff him and let it cook. i make homemade maccaroni and cheese and put a total of about 2lbs of cheese using mozzerela, sharp cheddar, and a little bit of montery jack and then bake it with a little more cheese on top until the top is crispy. ill make instant mashed potatoes just because i prefer that to homemade. ill be making a big pot of green beens full of hickory smoked bacon. deviled eggs (i usually eat at least a full dozen myself) potato salad is a necessity (mustard not mayonayse) and i use red potatoes to make it. my mom is bringing homemade bread and honey butter. ill probably make baked beans with bacon as well. for dessert it will be bannanna pudding and homemade pumpkin pie with coolwhip on top. oh i almost forgot i soak cloves of garlic in olive oil and usually rub him down with the oil only and put some of the cloves in his backside before i season it. ill probably buy a pecan pie because mom likes it ( i was born on pi (3.14) march 14th) there will probably be some steamed broccoli with cheese sauce as well but im not sure as i havent bought brocolli yet.

I have always done thing in the traditional way, but this year we are trying a deep-fried turkey. I'm skeptical, but lots of people I know say it's great. We shall see.

.22guy we cheat on Thanksgiveing. Instead of buying a Turkey and Ham we go to the Deli department at our grocery store and have them slice smoked turkey and ham like you would slice it at home.
You have less waste this way and you just warm it up in the microwave. Our oven will be cooking the other stuff.
