Gkk .45

I have tried several times to start a thread on the wonderful GKK series of FEG pistols, but no one seems interested in participating. Is it because no one (except me) has one of these pistols or maybe they're ashamed to to admit owning a Hungarian Browning HP. I've gotten more response from the Browning section. I love my GKK .45 which is more like a S&W than a Browning. So let's hear from some proud GKK/HP owners.

Don,

The only FEG I own is a PA-63. I have 2 Browning HPs. One in 9mm and the other in .40 S&W. I really like the HP platform

Is the grip configuation on the GKK the same as an HP? How about the width? Does it have a mag safety? How's the trigger pull? Is it SA or SA/DA? How rounds in a magazine? How has it's reliability been?

Post a picture when you get a chance.

Haven't seen the .45. I have a PA-63 that I like. I'd love to have a .45 but once saw a thread that said that you couldn't get parts for the .45...so I quit looking. Hows it shoot?

As far as parts go, Charles Daly has a lot of parts for them. KBI and Charles Daly are/were owned by the same people. KBI imported most of the FEG pistols in the country, although there were other importers.

My .45 GKK is a cross between an early S&W and a Browning. It's a good feel and good balance. The trigger is a bit rough and gritty, but my gun hasn't been fired much, and I haven't taken time to do a trigger job on it. The grip could be a little thicker, but is OK for a single stack. I really like it though, and am planning to make new grips for it. All I can say is "go for it".

Not a bad gun esp for the price

It's basically an upsized P9r. DA/SA Action, slide mounted safety-decocker w Smith&Wesson based operating system and BHP "Styling" I also have the PJK that is an exact clone of the HP, the GKK is a completely different gun internally, it just looks similar. My dad has the p9r (the 9mm vsn) his gun feels very Hipower like, ergonomically, but in adapting the GKK to 45acp they made the grip flatter (Thinner) and wider across. It's ok, but not nearly as comfortable. Feels almost like you're gripping a thin board. Workmanship seems to be really really good, just like my other FEG. It's a very nice looking gun. It has nice checkered wood grips and the Blueing is amazing. It feeds fmj ammo reliably. I have run a few rounds of JHP and so far so good.
It's kind of heavy, but I'm a "steel is real" kinda guy, so that's ok. Flat profile makes it a decent carry weapon. If you can find one in good shape (mine looks brand new) for under $300, i would jump on it.
the only thing i have noticed is that if you load the mag full (8) then you have to force the mag in. I don't feel comfortable doing so, therefore I load it with 7 and rack 1 in the chamber. Trigger pull is decent, nothing spectacular.

that's my $.02 for what it's worth

I have the GKK .45 model The one I have I have had for years now. It fired A little low and to the left when I first got it. But it being steel it was an easy fix with a gun file to center the slide in the frame it had a little spur. In have never had a stove pipe or a jam in over 500 rnds. Still looks new and its a great weapon. Deadly at 25 yds. Using federal factory loads. I wouldn't sell it for any of the Glocks. The mags a designed for 7 with one chambered. Best Browing clone Ive used.

I carry a P9R, which, as said above, is similar. It's very reliable. I would love the opportunity to shoot GKK (ACK) .45.
Not ashamed of my Hungarian at all!

Gkk .45 ii

I have had many positive comments on mine. Especially when I outshoot the new Glocks with it. I was in a lane next to a nice looking gal that just bought an expensive 9mm at impact guns. She was so excited at hitting the target at 21 ft. I fired 2 clips dead center with a 4"group at the same distance. I think she was going to get her money back as I left.

I own a ACK 45. Also known as GKK 45.

I just love it. It is very accurate and feels really cool
when shot.

I could not stand the factory grips. They were too
narrow and rough feeling. So I made a pair and bought
a pair. I had to modify the ones I bought, they were
too fat. I just molded and narrowed some.

I have had this pistol for about 6 years and have shot
thousands of rounds through it.

If I shoot about 5 or 6 boxes through it, the ejector
will get gunked up and malfunction.

Just giver her a shot of WD 40 and good as new,,, lol

Looks similar to an Armalite AR-24. I am sure it is much less expensive, and a reliable gun. But, given the choice, I would go with the AR-24.

Here's the AR-24 just FYI.

Boy,

I would too.

I have never spent more than $300
on a gun in my life.

My Colt only cost $250. But that was
a long time ago.

The AR-24 sure looks nice.

The AR-24 is a CZ-75 clone, not an HP clone. Look how the slide rides inside the frame on the AR-24. If it's as good (or almost) as a CZ then it's a great gun.

Don't have an HP but always wanted one. Gonna have to look closer at the GKK.

Hay Snow Man,

I would go with the CZ.

The GGK/ACK is a service type pistol. It is all steel and has more
apparent milling marks and less hand work than fire arms like CZ.

It works just fine without any modifications, but it lends itself to
benefiting from some hand work to make it work a bit more smoothly.

I love taking mine to the range. It does not have the snap of a small
9mm and I can empty the clip in less that 2 seconds with a deadly
tight patern at more than 30 feet.

I shot it yesterday. Now I have 5 pistols that could stand cleaning.

Happy Shootin,

Hey Mr. Dog, you're preachin to the choir. Love my CZs. Tanfoglio (Witness) also makes good CZ clones. While the fit and finish isn't as nice as a CZ they are very reliable in my experience. In fact, my Witness Match 9mm is the best shooting, most accurate 9mm I own.

I think you guys need your eyes checked. I can't see how a Browning High Power looks anything like a CZ-75.

If KBI/Charles Daly is where the parts come from what's that mean if you need any? I mean with KBI going out of business and therefore Charles Daly wasn't going to survive either what does that mean for you or anyone else that may own one of them?

Charles Daly is surviving quite well actually and does have a limited but extensive parts supply. I don't think that there is any need to worry about parts. Many of the actual HP clones will accept Browning parts. The GKK or ACK series are a different story though.

About the only thing that goes wrong with them are the recoil springs after 50,000 rounds. the springs can be obtained by Wolf in just about any poundage you want for $ 7-10 plus change. I have not needed them but did change out the trigger spring for a lighter pull. Also there's a lady name Esmeralda that makes grips for the Browning but in order to fit them to a GKK it takes a little hand fitting. But they sure are pretty. They make the Gkk feel less like a board. With a little beautification I can see a real nice profit. If I were ever to sell. Which I very much doubt.

Hey TabDog, What grips did you order for your GKK? Were they for a HP? I would like some different grips for mine.
