We have a similar program in Misosuri called "Harvester's Program" whereby hunters can donate to various needy programs. Some companies agree to pay "x" amount toward paying for deer processing and then the meat is passed on to needy individuals or food pantry's, etc. If there are no funds available from companies, or individuals who contribute for this prupose, then the hunter can pay for processing and the meat is still passed on to needy people. The program seems to be a big success from reports I've read. The other good news related to this is that deer which are getting overpopulated in this state are being thinned down each year, and hunters are having a fun time harvesting them knowing the meat is all going for a good cause.

GGReporter: Sir; NC has the program. Not widely advertised. Needs more recognition for what good 'hunters' value to our communities. North Carolina Hunters: we have food banks. Call or visit web sites. What we don't use, someone can.
