New Gun Laws in California...

Just saw this regarding intra-state sales of guns in CA.

One more step in the process...of...uh, protecting us.

CFLC Overview - Bureau of Firearms - California Dept. of Justice - Office of the Attorney General

"About CFLC

As of July 1, 2008, California Penal Code Section 12072(f)(1) PDF logo [PDF 30 kb / 1 pg] prohibits all Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs), other than Type 03 or 06 FFLs, from shipping firearms to an FFL in California unless, prior to delivery, the FFL intending to deliver, sell or transfer the firearms obtains a verification approval number from the California Department of Justice (CADOJ) Bureau of Firearms. This includes transfers that occur at gun shows.

The verification approval number, which the Bureau of Firearms provides in a Firearms Shipment Approval letter, confirms that the intended recipient of the firearm shipment is properly licensed and listed in the state's database of persons/entities authorized to receive firearm shipments. If the intended CA FFL recipient is not listed in the state's database, the transaction will result in a Do Not Ship letter, and it is a crime for the intended recipient to receive the firearms (Penal Code Section 12083(c)(1)).

As a courtesy to impacted FFLs, the Bureau of Firearms has established an Internet application that is available to FFLs nationwide 24 hours a day 7 days a week (24/7) to obtain Firearms Shipment Approval letters. All Internet transactions will be handled on a secure server, and the information provided will be used solely for the purposes associated with the administration of the CFLC program. For FFLs that do not have Internet access, the Bureau has established a telephone service that allows nationwide FFL shippers to enroll and obtain Firearms Shipment Approval letters via telephone or facsimile prior to shipping firearms to a California FFL. However, the telephone service availability will be limited to Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time."

This really, really is depressing. Guess I'll be putting the plastic to use this week. Can't imagine dealers going through all that just to send me a 100 buck rifle.

Yeah, most of the dealers I know will already not ship to California because they don't want to worry about staying within the rules. This is going to be a nail in the coffin.

That's just too bad. This is really sad. I hope to see many houses in Ca. for sale as many gun owners just say screw it and move to another, more gun friendly state...

You don't get any argument from me. I plan to move out of here ASAFP.

Until I'm done with school and have the resources however, I'm stuck.. Unless I want to go into massive debt.

I hope to see all the GC laws struck down while I live here though.

This is one reason I live in TX ! Even without open carry, the state is now pretty gun friendly.

Unhappy

I'm betting that nifty "Secure Server" operating 24-7 will be down more than it's up......

Ah, sweet progress.......

There are a few other jems of legislation they are trying to get thru the commitee
process in the state senate here. A bill that will require sellers of ammunition to obtain a permit to sell from the DOJ, retailers will have to keep all ammunition behind a locked display case. a DL will be required for all purcheses, private party transfers of more than 50 rounds ( even between family members ) will be illegal, and all mail order ammunition sales to CA will also be banned. There is also a smart-gun bill simillar to the New jersey law that they are trying to get going.
It is getting harder and harder to stay here, I am extremly feed up with the idiots who run my state ( and a lot of the sheeple who live here), but I just have to much family here who need me & my wife around to take off any time soon.

The bill did not mention ammuniton componets, so I dont know. When it gets to the floor for debate their may be amendments to it. Hopefully it will get shot down by the senate, but the way things are going Im not getting my hopes up, and if it does pass the chances of our Governator
vetoing it are probally zero.
