| The Second Amendment: What a Difference a Comma Makes The Supreme Court`s upcoming decision in a Washington, D.C. handgun ban case could potentially nullify thousands of gun laws on the books. The case stems from a security guard who was denied a request to keep a firearm in his District residence for self-protection. More... |

| I see it the same way. The ramifications are enormous. I hope the justices have the spine to rule properly. If they do, get out the popcorn and prepare to see congress go nuts. |

| I am going to get me a tub of buttered popcorn. AND when they start making subguns again, I'm going to get me an American 180 .22 subgun. I always wanted one of those.

| Don't hold your breath, AK. Realistically, and going on his past rulings, Roberts (for I bet he writes the majority decision himself), will write a decision that affirms the indivdual's absolute right to keep and bear arms, and strikes down any law that bans guns altogether or makes it impossible in the practical sense to keep and bear arms; but also allows the State to require anyone who wants to keep and bear arms to have to get a permit for pistols. Roberts is stuck trying to write a decision that overturns a plainly unconstitutional law, but at the same time a decision that does not overturn every regulatory gun law in the land. The tenor of the oral arguments is he does not want the People to be walking around with full auto weapons in their hot little hands, but at the same time he does not want them disarmed, either. He is well aware he has the chance to make legal history with this decision, so he is going to take great care crafting it. Just pray he does not use the words "reasonable restrictions" in the decision, or we'll be up the creek without a paddle. Question: Who gets to define "reasonable?" Answer: the Congress. Question: who controls Congress right now? Answer: the Democrats. Question: doe the Democrats have enough votes in both houses to pass a bill that a Democrat in the White House would sign that is oppressive by the lights of gun owners but "reasonable" by their antigun lights? Answer: I hope not, but I would not bet the farm on it. It's for sure the pro-gun Democrats (they do exist) and the pro-gun Republicans don't have enough votes to stop such a bill for making it to the President's desk. Question: am I apprehensive about what Roberts will write? Answer: Yes, I am. |

| "Question: am I apprehensive about what Roberts will write? Answer: Yes, I am." Me too, I guess I have lost faith and trust in our government. I don't want to, but I look for the worst from them when there is any action being taken on anything.

| Lee, I have to agree with you. I neither trust or respect most of the people holding Government Offices now. They all swore an oath to support and uphold the Constitution of the United States but few of them have. Check the Bills they have introduced and their voting records.

| I watch the voting record of anyone that is on the ballot that I vote with on election day. That is how I make my choise of who to vote for. That is why I am not really for McCain. He wants to "close the gunshow loophole" on private transfers. This is the first step to stopping all private transfers of firearms and I hold that against him.

| Lee , I agree but if one HAS to step in crap one should choose the smaller pile. I am a beleiver that Obama is more then just a little funded my the Joyce foundation which is a rabid anti gun group he was on board of directors of. |

| Oh YES, I will be stepping in the smaller pile of crap, but it is still crap. I may not "be for" McCain, but I am "for" obama a whole lot less. And I know they will never start making subguns again, but I can dream.
