Leftists Fight "Gundamentalism"

The “God Not Guns” coalition is predictably upset about the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning the Washington, D.C., handgun ban. A project of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, the “God Not Guns” coalition includes agencies of the United Methodist Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church, Presbyterian Church (USA), United Church of Christ, and the National Council of Churches, along with several Jewish groups. The American Humanist Association is also a member, suggesting a very wide definition of “god” in the name of opposing gun ownership and “gundamentalism.”

Nothing surprising there...except for the author's sideways swipe at the American Humanist Association. In spite of what he apparently believes, humanism isn't always secular humanism, and all humanists don't deny the existence and power of God. As a matter of fact, the American Humanist Association includes the Humanist Society, which was founded in 1939 by a group of Quakers (and originally called the Humanist Society of Friends).

I'm not defending this bunch of Brady Campaign idiots and their nonsense about 'Gundamentalism.' I just wanted to point out the author's mistaken idea of humanism.

Personally, I think and feel they all just have too much time on their hands and have nothing better to do. That doing this kind of stuff gives their pitiful pathetic lives purpose and meaning.

Just think, if they'd put all this energy and effort and all the money they've spent on all this anti-gun crap, into say, world hunger, they just might have cured it by now? I mean, if not world hunger, some other crisis that could use the attention and money they've put into this.

Angry

We all, as avowed gun owners, need to band together and fight this rampant "Bradymentalism".

More elitists looking for a soundbite on the

evening news. Anything to look more liberal than someone else.
I doubt one out of one hundred thousand of them could even have a two sentence discussion with Troy2000 about humanism, or for that matter,
any other philosophical, religious, or secular matter.

The media, as a few people know shares the root going back to the Latin source from which we also get the word mediocrity, panders to the
elitist/liberal fringe.

And yes, for those wondering, I still maintain this election from the democratic party side is about putting a Federalist/Elitist in the White House. This is not a political post but is my honest opinion.

Doesn't it say in the Bible " He who hath no sword let him sell his garments and buy one" ? Found it. Luke 22:36

Normally I try to stay away from reading any gun propaganda either pro or anti since they all skew facts and stories. However, the word "Gundamentalism" just kind of made me giggle so I had to check it out. After reading about 4 or 5 sentences of the article I closed the web page down.

This is a clear case of the melting pot calling the kettle black, and for one the hypocrisy is just out right, well hilarious. Organized religion has killed more people and oppressed more impoverished nations/people than a gun could ever possibly accomplish.

I think we should ban religion from politics, period.

I believe Jesus said that to like Luke or another disciple because they knew trouble was coming and Jesus didn't want any harm to come to anyone. They didn't walk around with weapons all the time, but it was common to carry a dagger on you to kill snakes and other animals that could harm you while just walking about.

Either way, it is debatable and subjective. The bible says a lot of stuff and is interpreted 90 billion different ways. Really all you end up doing is arguing philosophies or concepts which can't be right or wrong in the end.

Thats why I started reading the bible, to draw my own conclusions. I wasn't trying to turn this into a religion discussion. I was just trying to point out Jesus wasn't against defending yourself. As they were saying "God not guns".

The Book Of Nehemiah is often referred to as the 2nd Amendment book of the Bible.

Um, it has already hasn't it? And if not, it soon will have...But are you talking in the US or world wide? And AIDS related deaths have dropped dramatically since they learned of it and started testing blood that's been donated and blood in general and made people aware of it in general.

The good thing about the Bible is that it has relevant, real-world advice for just about any situation. The hard part, sometimes, is figuring out what advice fits which circumstances...
