The DA has reacted with fury to a suggestion by President Jacob Zuma that South African civilians should not bear arms. I don't know if Zuma is ignorant about firearms, but he's certainly as ignorant if not more so than the parliaments of Great Britain and Australia. American statistics clearly show that more guns in private hands equals less crime in the community. So do Swiss statistics. His little Siyabonga speech ought to be renamed the "See ya later" speech for South Africans' civil rights. He plainly wants to deny the people of South Africa the right to keep and bear arms, and we know what comes after that. I certainly hope the South Africans vot him out of office quickly, for their own good and for the sake of their posterity. |
