Urban Fishing in Toronto Ontario

My friends and I have mastered urban fishing in Toronto! This is my buddy Tony Baloney (no really that's what we call him) on the Humber River in North York and you know, I have never been disappointed by the catch there.

We also fish in the Don (believe it or not) and the Credit and once tried Rouge River... it was great actually, but its too far away.

Any tips you guys can share on how we can improve our catch? there are plenty of fish in the Humber River and I know we could get more if improved our techniques...

That day, which was in early October the air was chilly and the fish were biting real good. We caught shiners and suckers and sunfish and perch and ONE BASS which was a good fight... I cooked it and ate it - my uncle was over at the house and he showed me a totally new way of filleting a fish that is better than the method i use now.

Anyway I like to believe I'm pioneering new ways to fish for BASS in those shallow creeks - gang hooks - but I'm always looking for more neat tips to impress Tony Baloney who already thinks I'm The Fisher King but I like to keep him surprised all the same.

Thumbs up

Arob...The subject of fishing got my attention fast. Can't wait till it warms up here in Kansas City to get back to Crappie fishing in Smithville Lake, located about 20 miles from me.

You mentioned fishing for "shiners and suckers and sunfish and perch and ONE BASS". We have the sunfish, perch and bass, plus crappie, channel cat, and others where I fish. Mainly I fish for crappie using minnows, and for bass using jigs and lures of various types.

I can't tell from your picture if you're fly fishing...or bait fishing...but I'm guessing it's with flyrods. I've never tried that but it looks like fun if you've got plenty of space.

One thing for sure, the more time your hook is in the water the better odds you have of catching something.(ha) Standing around the banks killing time is wasted time you that you might catch that lunker.
