I said bad cause I would step up lightly, first to 12, 14 etc. 25 is really tough line. Also maybe switch to a flurocarbon or maybe a braided line, they seem to be a little stronger, a 10 lb braid will beat a mono 25. |

10lb braided should be adeqate for small stream fishing anywhere. I would check your drag first, as someone else stated. |

A good drag will protect the line. The line does not have to be heavy to catch large fish. I said bad.

Yea, the fireline or spiderline stuff is tough. Pricy as well. But take Ellsworth's advice and gradually move up in lb strength. What are you fishing for by the way? You mentioned a stream, if it has some nice shallow areas to it and a few deep spots and the current moves kind of fast, might want to try fly fishing it also. Especially if your fishing for trout...

Not true. Try one on the smoker. Adjust your drag. It has to be a big carp to break 10lb test. Also, use new line. Most guys use the same line for several seasons. Bad idea. |

i coudnt eat a carp they smell terrible and i know what you are talking about wen you say old line becouse 4 years ago i had old fishing line on my pole and it snaped when i put on the little thing so you can practice casting (first time fishing) and that was only a few ounces!

If you go with any of the braided lines be sure and read about the knots. You will more than likely need to learn to tie some new knots so that they will work properly for you (they are pretty easy to tie). I use Spider Wire or one made by Western Filament (can't remember what they call it). Great stuff.
