| Ever gonna be a cheap surplus? Who here believe's (or im willing more likely hopes) the FN FAL ever becomes one of the under 1000 dollar surplus semi auto rifles? Are not enough produced for that to ever really happen? |

| Senior Member ![]() | Not EVER gonna Happen due to our Current Gun Laws. They are banned from Import because of not being sporting rifles and having full auto Capability. Now they have banned the parts kits with the original Barrels as well... Rich

| A friend of mine helped build mine from a kit, right before the ban. If you have the ability or know someone who does, you might be able to put one together. But even if you start with several junk rifles it probably won't be all that cheap. |

| i am willing to spend anywhere from 400 to 600 on a clone of the CETME or G3 or if they make a clone of the FAL in that price range it would be fine. I was gonna spend that much on a good AK anyway before i decided on one of these instead |

| I'm buying a CETME clone this week, probably around 450, pretty good shape but of course I haven't shot it. We'll see. I like the FN FAL of course as well, and I'm sure its a better made rifle, but I don't have that kind of a gun budget! |

| too much demand it would take a true flood of this rifle to impact the marketplace. |

| Super Moderator ![]() | The only way to get surplus FALs is to build them on surplus kits made from cut receiver guns, and those had their heyday a few years ago. They cannot be imported complete due to the fact that they were not originally semi-auto, but select-fire. Semi-auto only versions built on parts kits ultimately are new rifles using donor parts from the military ones.

| is the FA91 reliable? i know nothing about these rifles whatsoever. From what i am reading though they are good and bad. seems kinda like a hit and miss game. also will they use the .308 win ammo or will they only be safe shooting the .308 NATO? |
