Coonan is making rec.'s again!

Dan Coonan is once agian offering type one receivers. For those of you new to FAL's and not familiar with him, he's the guy who made receivers for FAC (Fed. Arms Corp) long ago. They were nice receivers. He's also got the best **** price out there too. 300 shipped last I checked!

No, I'm not affiliated with him or his business in any shape or form. Just know that a lot of builders are having a hard time finding good receivers in stock and that don't cost and arm and leg. I don't know what his stock is right now though. But I'm thinking of lowering it by one.
Do a google for coonan arms to find his site.

**** and I just sold my best spare G1 kit!!! rattas!

Yes, I build one of my first builds on one a long time ago. The only "issue" I had with it was I had to trim the barrel down to get timeing right. But I've had to do that on all my builds including Imbel's. So I don't consider it and issue.
I don't know what his quality is these days. If its gone the way of everyone else quality in the US, that would be a shame. Everyone charges more and gives you less. Pisses me off!
I'd like to know why he even stopped offereing them. Maybe everyone was after Imbel receivers too much. Now that they've dried up and theres such a demand and other business is slow for him, he jumbed back in. Glad he finally did.
You may want to look on the falfiles and see if anyone's got one of his new ones and did a review on it yet. If so, post a link to it here or and least let us know if its a thumbs up or down.

I just got a nice G1 barrel that was cut down and is bipod cut. Its so nice I think I may buy it it's own receiver and build a nice para.

To get an original FH on it again. I'd have to remove the current locking lug off the barrel and mount a new one further back. I doupt I'll do that, but who knows right now. I do like the looks of it. I'll most likely put a brake on it to reduce recoil. I have a threading kit already. Still haven't tried it.

The good old days of FAC. I do miss that company, they had some really neat stuff. It's too bad they went out.

As far as DSA goes, I think that they are quality, but they have always been overpriced because of there name. I have an StG58 on an Imbel gear logo and I think that the Imbel receivers are just as good as DSA. I cannot speak for Coonan because I never owned one and it wouldnt be fair to. I can remember the days a few years ago when Dealer Wharehouse was selling FAL receivers for $125.00. Parts kits were (for one in excellant shape) under $300 w/ shipping.

Oh well......

If you only had the $$$ to get more
