Thumbs up

Nice photo, .308/7.62x51 correct? Per Gunbroker items up for bid, I think you did well. Does it function okay? The mags maybe going for 50+ bucks each?
It looks like a keeper to me, I got my CETME back in 2004 for $395 and I compare things to what I remember and I think these FAL's were going for 450/600 back then. The real question is do you like it and are you happy with it? You should have no problem getting your money back on, just my 2cents

No...You didnt get ripped off !!! Nice FAL...If the Upper and Lower is Austrian then it is an STG-58 built on an Imbel Receiver.

It is Austrian. Has the eagle stamp on the barrel. Also has the gas tube that isnt solid in the middle and stamped "61" next to Eagle stamp. Receiver is CAI import without the gear symbol. Feed ramp is double-cut, not the dreaded "unibrow" Ive read of. Seems to be a nice rifle I like it! Will shoot it soon

Looks like the typical Austrian StG-58 milsurp parts kit built on an Imbel receiver. Best of the best as far as kit guns go. The only thing really better than Imbel receivers are DSAs and a few of the early imports (Poyer, Onyx etc).

If you want it to be a "proper" Austrian build you oughta look into the StG-58 flash hider. You've currently got the standard Belgian "combo device" muzzle brake/bayonet lug deal. It's an excellent design but (IIRC) not correct for this type of rifle. But it doesn't really matter!

$740 for the rifle and 6 mags isn't a bad deal at all... I just paid $1000 for a rifle and ten mags. :P Granted it was a Rhodesian kit that was painted with an Imbel receiver but I think you got the better deal overall. :P

Its a compensator with ports on top and sides. I actually have the correct 4 prong flash hider. The comp is pinned on somehow with a single pin driven through the side. I want to take it off and install the original but it looks like it might have to be drilled through the pin.

I'd say you got a very good deal. If haven't seen an FN-FAL of any kind below $1100 since before the Obama Gun Buying Frenzy began around my part of the world. And that's with ONE magazine and NO accessories, yet!
