Just checked the site, good info thanks !!

In my G3, the rear sight has a plate that extends to the front, covering the hole in the receiver (HK style sight) and the rear set screw from the mount lies right in that sight extension. The mount screw seated there and marked the plate, so it doesn't creep.

As for bending the mount, I allways though that the receiver would yield first, but I believe that the tightening knurled screw has a stop preventing it from over tightening, not sure right now, will check tonight.

Maybe the Cetmes are a bit narrower than the G3, don't know!

Will measure the width of the receiver tonight if I can find the caliper and post the numbers.

If in doubt, don't buy it, better to be shure and fork out money only 1 time.

The CETME I just ordered has the Stainless cast reciever, which apparently has somewhat fatter dimensions than the stamped units, from what I gather.

No matter; I like to tinker. Have several boxes and piles of junk and scrap metal, a selection of good files, and an active and creative imagination!

Let's just see what I come up with, shall we?

Why, I just might invent a scope mount made entirely out of solid BRASS!

Has anyone dared to try THAT yet?

Well; "harrumgph", then!; I 'spect it's about time that someone DID!
(Got a good supply of that down in the Labooratory, too!)

Thumbs up

Uncle Jaque, Mine is a simple Weaver rail (for the Rem 700, from Wally Mart - $12 or so), and a copious amount of J B Weld ($3 or so for the two tubes), tastefully sanded smooth and painted with the rest of the rifle. It's solid, does not move at all, and has so far held up well for several hundred rounds - including commercial .308. Looks like it was machined with the receiver. Some times, cheaper IS better! I use tall see-thru rings, and can use the iron sights with the scope installed, if the bell size isn't too big. It wears a 6X42 with German reticle (pointed lower post) which has proven quite sufficient. This rifle shoots 1.5 inch groups consistently, and has done <1" a few times.
Can't beat that! A good $15 scope mount that is rock solid!

Thanx 4 the tip, BD! I will definitely look into that option.

There very well may be just such a Weaver base down cellar in that cigar box.
I wonder if JB weld (some sort of epoxy, isn't it?) sticks to stainless?

I'll have to see what my reciever looks like; Century is still searching for my Dealer's FFL the last I knew, so it may be a while.

Cool

:assult: :assult: :assult: :assult: :assult:

Just found the calliper, the width of the receiver at the mount stampings is 1.038in or 26.30mm, the knurled screw has a stop, but it won't prevent overtightening.
