*sigh* I think we're a small group here Sean. I'll venture a guess that most of the guys with CETMEs are over on the gunboards CETME/FR-8 forum. I think they're more properly identified with the G3, myself.

Nope. The rear sight is like a 4-sided paddlewheel, same as on the H&K G3. You flip it around for 100, 200, 300, and 400 yards (or meters, I'm not sure). The front sight is part of a solid assembly that goes around the barrel and the cocking tube; when looked at straight-on, it looks like three circles on top of each other.

Hm, seems I was incorrect. The G3 has the vertical-rotation cylinder rear sight. It appears it may be unique to the CETME. Sorry about that.

It's also a lot easier to work the paddle sight versus the HK cylinder sight.

I can't hat anything with that paddle wheel sight if it's set on the 100 Meter sight. I've heard it's best to use the 200 meter peep hole at even 100 yards. Why is that? Oh yeah, this post was a bummer, we need to get me CETME owners on here! lol They were all good looking though, so there we're good, just not enough.

I didn't care for the vee-notch either - so I filled the 200 meter peephole with JB Weld and redrilled a smaller hole to shoot on target at 100 yards.

JB Weld is a close friend of yours huh? lol I've used the heck outta it on a car, but yet to try it with a firearm. Guess I'll try it when I get a chance. lol

Yup - if it needs to stay in place, the ol' JBW is the ticket!

Great for building up front sight posts too. And it kept my old truck's windshield wipers together for years after the linkage grenaded while driving in a hurricane.

Well I think I may have to check into gettin a CETME. It looks pretty sweet. What are they going for these days? How accurate are they? I want something that will be pretty accurate to about 300 or more yards.

Last I saw, they were going for anywhere from $300-$500; I'd say anything over $550 is probably too much, but I haven't looked for a while now.

Can't help ya on the distance shooting, my range is indoors and only 25 yards, but the "indoor" part is more important since I live in the Seattle metro area.

Accuracy is on a par with most .30 caliber battle rifles - a couple inches at 100 yards scoped, a fist sized group open sighted with my 50 year old eyes.

Work up some good handloads in GI brass, a good rest and a decent scope - it should do well on out there! Recoil is mild, so staying on target is easy.

Prices have really climbed - I'm seeing $500 to $600 on the average now. With some looking, you might find one for less.

My spanish lady is soon to be upgraded with:ERGO HK Tactical grip, Magpul PRS G3 stock, i'm still up in the air on what type of mounting system and optics.

Pulled off my handguard due to a lot of heat during firing and noticing that the 'vents' aren't vents but just divets in the plastic. I'm probably going to open them up to actually cool the barrel, but while I had it off, I noticed how interesting it looked and decided to put on my bipod and laser to see how it looked. I probably won't leave it this way, but figured I'd show you all the result (yeah, they're big, but that allows you to see the detail):

I thought it looked a little more "evil" without the handguard for the EBR effect and figured I'd share my experience.

Wondering what the rest of the CETME owners think of it....
