| Cleaning Crud Off Cylinder
What do you use to clean the powder off the front of the cylinder? I'm not having any luck!

Yep, thats exactly what I'm talking about. I burned some powder today and decided to give the thing a good polishing afterwards. I suppose this same stuff could be used to clean the residue around barrel porting as well? |

Is the gun stainless? i use a stainless steel polishing cloth made by a company called adco.(addco?) they call it a lead wipe or something. this treated material removes carbon and lead very quickly unfortunately it will remove bluing as well.

Flitz is a good product for getting the front of the cylinder clean. It's mostly lead (not burnt powder) that makes the mess there, so Hoppe's and other bore-cleaners don't work well. Flitz will clean it up quick (but not cheap).

Thanks everyone! I found a product today called Lead Away. Its made by a company called Kleen-Bore, Inc. Sounds a lot like what you've been describing. It is a cloth designed to wipe away lead and carbon build-up. Salesman told me to cut off a bit and wipe away the build-up. And to keep the unused portion in a Zip-Loc bag. |
