Don't know where you are in Texas, but if you are in the Dallas area here is a dealer that stocks the CZ line as well as EAA and many other brands. They also have several tables at many of the DFW gunshows so you could easily fondle 100 different 9MM handguns at their tables. They usually are pretty competive with the pricing also. As you can see from my avatar I like the CZs. That is a CZ75BD, a CZ SP-01 Phantom, and a CZ52.
Thanks for the help, but I'm down in Abilene. I haven't looked at every gunstore or pawnshop, but I have been to quite a few of them and the gunshows and the only CZ's I can find are CZ-82's the occasional CZ-52 and the CZ P-07 Duty I fondled yesterday.

The 52 isn't what you are looking for but if you have the funds you should get one. I have one and it is worth to me much more than I paid for it. It is the cheapest gun in my complete armory yet it is in a world all by itself. It is a hot number that brings plenty of excitement to range onlookers not familiar with them.

I have a Tokarev and I'm actually getting rid of it partially because of the current lack of surplus 7.62x25 ammo.
And the few CZ-52's I've seen around here, the guy selling them wanted $400+ for each of them.

Well you are only 2 1/2 hours from Dallas and next week end is one of the big shows at Market Hall. There will literally be thousands of handguns to provide you with a sensory overload.

ya the cz52 is awesome, but not an up to date combat handgun, or service pistol
i am trying to collect cz weapons mostly i decided, i really wish they imported the cz92. anyone know where i can get one?
CDNN investments has Glock 17 police trade in's available. They also have the 5906 as well. I agree that the Smith and Wesson 5906 is a handful for people with average to small hands. But the Glock.....aaaahhhhhh.....nothing fits and fires like a Glock!

Yah no other company has quite figured out the grip. Its hard to get that textured brick feel quite right. LOL JK
9mm is a nice caliber for playing around with. I have a S&W 59 that is a bit large for my hand with the stacked magazine, but it is just a model 39 that was increased capacity. I have a couple of Luger's which I like but that isn't many people's cup of tea. I just picked up a Vis Radom 9mm which is basically a combination of a 1911 & a browning hi power .. nice shooter.
Would recommend not overlooking used firearms or tried and true favorites unless you are set on getting a NIB 9mm as opposed to just new to you. Lot of nice preowned pieces out there a decent prices.
For a general fun, plinking gun, I would go with a Beretta 92, Browning Hi Power or CZ or CZ clone. The Glocks and other tactical tupperware guns have horrid, mushy triggers that are not conducive to marksmanship. They really are lowest common denominator guns.
Real men pack heavy metal.....
