| Super Moderator ![]() | Which double stack 45?
Thinking about what full or mid size double stack 45 ACP pistols are out there, I figure I need to hear some good old experience from those who've used them. They vary in price, but all have in common that they're in 45ACP, use double stack mags so they have at least 10rds (more after the ban dies), have a manual safety, and have an external hammer. The ones I thus far know of that fit this description are: Hi Cap 1911 like Para Ordnance, Springfield, SAM Falcon, Entreprise, Daly M5, Caspian, STI, RIA, etc EAA Witness/CZ-97 HK USP 45 (SOCOM is too pricey even to look at) Beretta Cougar Am I missing any?

The Glock 21 is a fine shooting pistol. Low recoil, and I am extremely impressed with the accuracy out of the box. But, like the post above, the ParaOrdinance double stack 1911 is a sweet shooter as well!

On the wide body 1911's don't forget the Kimber BP Ten II. Polymer lower with a metal rail upper molded into it, the standard Ten II has a steel rail system, the BP Ten II is an ultra lightweight special edition with an aluminum metal section. Since they're "plastic" 1911's I refer to mine as a "Glockteen eleven"! <big grin>

I forgot to mention that the BP Ten II is a great shooter out of the box - I guess that's sort of expected from Kimber anyway right? It will accept pre-ban ParaOrd 14 round mags and the overall grip width is about the same as a standard 1911 single stack, the grip's just a bit squarer but holds nicely. Remeber G3, I'm a bit jaded anyway - the BP Ten II is my main sidearm, my backup is either a custom Commander length 1911 that I built or a Kimber Custom II Tactical depending on mood and dress of course!

Widebody 1911, preferably a polymer framed Kimber.

Hey Tc, is that Hk the kinda large frame one with, in some cases, the threaded muzzle extension? I'm not too up on Hk hand cannons? If that's the one I'm thinkin about I would like to get the chance to run some rounds through one!

BG#...the HK's are huge in size! But you might be big enough physically to pack one....I'm not. Max....as a Kimber owner and fan I cannot believe that I forgot the polymer line!

I prefer the Steyr myself for packing. These may be for cold weather packing or if I figure out a good way to conceal, but if I get one it would probably be for home defense and open carry on private land.
