.45 Gap?

Iv'e seen several write ups on this, but don't remember anyone talking arguing about it yet.

Kind of cool getting .45 ACP performance witht the lighter projectiles in a 9mm size gun. I'd be more interested in another gun besided Glock.

Or, is it just too close to the 40? Still interesting none the less

Thats a good site, from what we have read at the shop i see no raell advantage to the 45 GAP (short) other than getting it into a 9mm/40 cal frame. the balistics reports in guns and ammo put it at only 21lbs of knock down less than a 45aacp, this putts it in the same arena as the 40 cal. the only reason i could say to use it would be for the lagrer diamiter bullet. my own oppinion is that they wasted money developing this round when it does not (by reports published so far) out preform the 40 cal that is out there now and only mimics the 45 acp in its lighter loads. yes it does allow for more mag capacity but if thats all they where looking for they alreday had it in the 40.

Only thing I like about it is that it may fit in the Steyr M frame...

I love the Steyr pistol, and want 45. If the two came together, I'd be in heaven.

I've seen and held the Glock 37.
To me, it's an incestuous mating of a G17 frame and a G21 slide.
Like most hybrids, this one was almost stillborn from the moment it came gown the pike!!
11.35mm kurz?? No thanks, I'll stick with my G36, thank you very much!!!

I've shot one of the 37's and cannot say much interesting about it. It goes "bang" when I pull the trigger and it is pretty accurate. However, I prefer to stick with my Glock 22. The difference between the .40 and the .45 GAP round is negligible to me. The .40 has a proven record in a short amount of time. The only other round I'd consider would be the .357 SIG. Not too far away from magnum performance, and it does offer slightly more penetration than the .40. But, with the performance comes a price-barrel erosion. Since the round is so hot, barrels are wearing out too fast. Until they get that remedied, I'll stick with my trusty .40......

With the WSM craze going on, I just refered to it as a "Glock short magnum .45". Got a few chuckles at the counter at the gun store.
Not nearly as many chuckles though as my friend who was standing there - works CID for the county and shoots competition - 1911's only (KImber supplies his match pistols)and would be recognized by name - he's good!
One of the Deputies was standing there with us and started preaching the goodness of the Glock, Matt looked down at him and asked "so you really prefer carrying that instead of a gun?"

Wouldn't be the first time someone came out of a gun store with sore ribs

I don't see much interest, just curious what normal people (non-gunwriters) thought.

Nothing special, a waste of R&D IMO. But the Springfield XD's are going to offered in it now and the SW99 models.

Having 45 power in guns like Springfield XD and Steyr M40 is in my view the only advantage of this round.
