| Went to another pin shoot today.
I went to the second pin shoot of the year today. I took first place in .44 mag class. I kinda screwed up with my .45 and only came in fourth, .02 second behind 3rd place. The only other change from the last shoot was that I improved my 9mm average time by over 5 seconds(only have to shoot them once with 147gr bullets compared to two or three times to get them off of the table with the 115's).

.02, that's close. I'd say you keep practicing and your in there. How many players were in the 44 mag class? Is there a load requirement? I'd think mid range .44's would topple pins as well as the .45? Keep up the good work :right:

The .45 auto is a totaly separate class. I actually use a .41mag in .44mag class.

.41 in .44? Is there a .41 class? Or a .357 class & can you use a .357 in a .41 class or only use a .40 in a 41 class unless a 9mm is substituted for the .40 class in which the .357 would be too much power in which case the .38 would be appropriate and can be used in the 9mm class. Just kiddi'n. But would like to know more of the details out of curiosity sake.

In the smaller cartridges .38spl, 9mm etc.. the pins are placed toward the back of the table(4'x8' plywood table). In the larger cartridges .45 auto, .44mag etc... the pins are placed toward the front of the table. I use a .41 mag in .44 mag class because there is no .41 class. The .41 clears them off the table just as well as the .44. Some guns don't have a class, take the .40s&w I could shoot it in the .45 auto class or in the 9mm class. In both cases I would be at a disadvantage because the .40 recoils more than the 9 so recovery time is slower, in the case of the .45 class the 180gr .40 just doesn't carry the same momemtum as the 230 .45 and since in .45 class the pins are toward the front of the table we need that momentum to carry the pins off the table. It sounds more confusing than it is.
