Early Browning auto handgun designs had a poorly angled grip, these do not point naturaly. Ever held a russian or chinese tokarev? Hold your arm straight out and the barrel points at the ground. I have a chinese tok with later style grips the make up for this. The good 'ol 1911 is dead on though. (at least for me |

The Taurus PT92-99 / Beretta 92 series are not that bad the S&W 4506 is like holding a 2x4 There was a styer GB monster that was horrible to hold The early Ruger Redhawks gave me splinters. Browning hi powers are not my faves walther ppk=yuk There was a interesting french pistol called a MAB 9mm with a rotating barrel lock up The edges where sharp as knives. (Typical French) That weird Jap pistol with the exposed sear that was crrrrrrrrrap! Dana, this brings up an interesting subject. Why do people design guns the way they do? What are the ideas and requirements? sometimes countrys will do things that we think is useless or uneccessary and yet The pistol does exactly what it is supposed to do. Sometimes they just dont know any better As far as handguns go, who designs better pistols than the United States of America? We think it up and others take our design principals and make them their own. Not every gun is based in an American design but most are. Personally I have had my best luck with military pistols or derivatives there of.

Any compact pistol is uncomfortable for me, as I have very large hands. But, some still shoot well for me! Weird. The absolute worst for me is those little NAA mini-revolvers. The whole gun "stovepipes" straight up when I shoot it! I find the Tokarev TT33 very uncomfortable too. My Star Super tends to bite the top of my hand, even worse than a 1911. I generally wear half-finger gloves when I shoot the Colt and Star.

I was at a shop just two days ago and looking for my next purchase. The salesman tried to sell me on a Kahr model. Man, that thing was way too small for my mitts. | |

Browning Hi-powers, and glocks have always felt lousy. I like a 1911 OK, but Im still a wheel-gun guy. My S&W 41 is the only S&W auto I've ever liked.
