I voted 'NO'. I have shot the .357 Magnum version, and it was decent, though big and heavy. The .44Mag and .50AE are just too big for my tastes. If I want a Big Bore Magnum I'll get the Ruger Blackhawk. JMPO.

I voted "no" as well. I have also shot a .357 DE, and a .44 and if I had to have one, I'd opt for either the .347 or the .41 magnum (rarity). I DID opt for the Blackhawk for a big bore pistol, and my 10.5" SBH turns way higher velocities than a DE .44, for about half the price, maybe a third. I picked it up for $325. Bet it shoot tighter groups at 50 yards too.

I'd buy one when I become this super rich multi-millionaire (yeah right I've never shot a DE but heard that it has a lot less recoil than a blackhawk in .44M. |

I'd consider a DE if semi-autos were allowed for hunting in PA. That's the only real use I see for it, that and just shooting paper. Not really my idea for home defense.

gunssb- the baby eagle is a good little pistol, unlike its big brother. the steel framed baby eagles are good guns, the polymer framed ones are not.

hehe, assuming I had all that money to spend on it, I dont even know what Id do with it. It seems way to big for my hands and thats just for starters. If I did ever have all that extra cash toget one, Id probably get the .50 AE more for a conversational piece at the range than for anything else lol. "Hey looky what I have." |

I didn't vote but here's my two and-a-half cents worth; I can't really knock the eagles and wouldn't mind having one in the vault just because. BUT, because my main magnum hand cannon is a Grizzly Mark 1 .45 WinMag I am a bit jaded. By that I mean I can actually pack the Griz about as easily as one of my 1911's, a DE .50 is just too darn big to hang on or in your belt. On the other hand - a couple of weeks ago I ordered a guy a Magnum Research .45LC/.410 revolver - and he wanted it to carry! Mag Reasearch makes an under arm soft rifle case (holster) for their big revolvers but DANG! The big wheel gun was really neat though, a real hoot to rapid fire at a target at 25 yds with #6 .410 loads! Ray Charles could have gotten consistant target hits with this pistol!

Personally I like the DE 44.mag. I owned one for a couple of years. It delivers a lot less recoil then the Super Blackhawk which I have also owned at three different times. The down side--too darn big. Thats why I sold it. |

I currently own three Coonan .357 autos( 2 full size, 1 cadet). I see no reason to downgrade.

I voted no also, to big, to heavy, to bulky and to expensivie. I'm happy with my S&W .357.

The DE's are kind of like owning a Hummer. They are large, expensive, and impressive, but kind of impractical. I have owned two of the .44 magnums, they are probably the most accurate "out of the box" handguns I've ever owned. The other problem I have with them is since I'm left handed, the ejected brass hits me in the face.
