| accuracy: Single Six vs SW 617 I am shopping for 0.22lr revolvers mostly for shooting at the range. I have it narrowed to two choices. Ruger stainless 6.5" Single Six or S&W 617 6" 6 shot. They each have their own attractive features, but I am concerned about the dealer's claim that any revolver with a convertible cylinder (0.22lr and 0.22WMR for the Ruger) will have compromised accuracy. The question is, how much of a difference are we talking about? :target: |

| Basically, the Ruger Single Six is a very nice Plinker. The S&W 617 is a very nice target revolver. 'Nuff said. I have the older Smith Model 17-3 - it's far tighter shooting than the Ruger. For field carry, I might prefer the Ruger's simpler, more rugged design.
