| How I customized my Hi-Point .45
Okay, I've been gone a MONTH!!!! and it's all because I was waiting for the digital camera to get delivered. Well, that's how it started, anyway. I stripped off the pebble coating on my beloved Hi-Point with Ed's Original Red, and followed that up with using my Dremel to remove all of the baked on black finish. That left me with a shiny slide, which I think looks pretty cool. Since I only spent about $170 for it, NIB, I felt okay about playing around like this. I would NEVER do something like this to my RIA 1911, or, for that matter, to any of my other metal & wood pets. So, keeping in mind that I still ain't all that hot about how to use the digital camera, here are three views: ![]() ![]()

I think I made the pictures too big to make viewing them easy. Sorry.

That's one reason the Hi-points are so cheap - little attention to finish. If they did what you are doing, it would be a $300 gun. Will you use a firearm finish - Guncote or Alumahyde II?

I hadn't planned on doing anything else to it except buffing smears off from time to time, and loading it 9+1, and going BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG, then replacing mags and going BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG. Reload, and repeat as needed until sufficient holes appear in target.
