beretta 92FS vs. taurus PT92 Hi all, great forum you have here :right: First a bit about myself. I’m 21 years old and I live in Arizona. My dad has been a gun owner for nearly 20 years. Personally I’ve been shooting for about the last 5 years; mostly handguns but also a bit of shotgun and rifle shooting on the side. I now feel ready to make my first handgun purchase. I’ve shot a ton of handguns, but it was a rental Beretta 92FS that really caught my eye. I really liked the trigger pull and the balance of the gun in my hand. Overall I was really impressed by the gun. So about a year ago I decided that this was the first handgun I would want to own. Being the poor college student that I am, money is tight so I have to be frugal whenever possible. That’s why I’ve been thinking of buying the Taurus PT92. From what the guy at the gun shop told me, they are built to the same standard as the 92FS, but cost about $150 less. They had a PT92 in the shop priced at $470, which I would consider well within my budget. So I'd just like to hear your opinions about if it is worth it to pay more for the Beretta. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I would want a new gun if possible. Also I'd like to know if there is a difference between the PT92 and 92FS.

Both guns are direct descendents of the original Beretta 92. Beretta had a factory in Brazil that made them for awhile. Then, when Beretta lost the Brazilian military sidearm contract, Taurus bought the factory

http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/TaurusPT92.htm I highly reccomend looking for and older pre-cocker PT-92. The decocker can decock the pistol... defeating cocked and locked condition 1 carry. I saw an older PT-92 for sale at a gunshow 4 yrs ago for $195.00.
