| some bb guns require a co2 tank. and airsoft guns need either green gas to function or a manual movement to cock it. |

| I believe the Airsoft guns are usually lower velocity too? Some guys play Airsoft games similar to paintball - you don't want too much velocity - I'll bet it really stings! The Airsoft is very popular in Japan. Some guns are extremely realistic, and nearly identical to the real ones! Well, that's their only way of owning 'guns'.

One early morning I heard somehting rustling around in my closet, and we only had fish for pets at the time. I slid the door open and there sat the stupidest mouse I'd ever seen. It sat still looking at me for about 30-45 seconds and went about his business (making a nest is my guess). I had just recieved my airsoft a couple days ago and it was alot closer than the pellet gun in the garage. I loaded and cocked it and nelt down in front of the open closet door. At this point the mouse decided that it would be a good idea to come and sniff the floor about a foot away from me. I leveled the airsoft with it's head and fired, the mouse didn't run off like I had expected it to, it just dropped (as far as a mouse can drop). The plastic pellet had hit it behind the head at the base of the skull and broke its neck.

| Senior Member | That all depends on what you plan on doing with it. If you want to plink at your friends/targets, then this one looks sufficient. However if you plan on joining a league (or whatever they call it) where you compete like you would in paintball, then you would want an electric or gas powered one. To answer your kick back question, no it does not, you rack the slide which pulls back a spring and a plunger, you then pull the trigger which releases the spring/plunger creates air pressure which propels the 6mm bb. So no felt recoil, you just fel the plunger/spring assembly move forwards rapidly

To answer your question an Airsoft shoots hard plastic BB It loses velocity fairly fast. A BB gun shoots a metal BB, it will shoot farther. As far as recoil, I cant imagine it would have any. | |
