FN FIVE-SEVEN & the 5.7 x 28MM Round

I just bought a FN Five-Seven that shoots the 5.7 x 28MM shell. The pistol
is a tack driver. Any opinion's on the 5.7 x 28MM round? From just a box of
shells.My opinion is it's a wildcat...

Thanks very much for the report! I had the impression that accurate shooting would be its strength, and that it would be well suited to short range varminting.

I just recently became aware of this cartridge and have read nothing but good things. What other manufacturers besides FN make a pistol in this caliber. Is ammo readily available? I think I might have to have one.

I'm pretty sure the round was specifically designed for use in the FN-P90.
I don't think any other manufacturer has adopted the cartridge yet.
And if I could afford one I'd already have one.

GRNDESERT, did you get the DA or SA ? If you got the DA how is the trigger? The FN website says it's10 -14lbs. Seems pretty heavy. I'm getting excited about this one.

Iam not sure which one it is. My FIVE-SEVEN doesn't have a DA or SA model
anywhere.Where'd you see that at KID??? The trigger is not anything unusual.
I've got some pics of my FIVE-SEVEN shooting through 1/4" stainless steel.
I'll try to get the pics up soon.... Gun is unbeliveable. I see the future, and
it's not 9MM........or .45ACP............or .40S&W............ 5.7x28MM yes that's
the future.......

I fell in love with the FN P90 and looked into it's avalability as a civlian model--from what I understand availabilty is uncertain--the pistol is--but how about civilian rounds? The rounds developed for the FN P90 are specifically designed to penetrate ballistic armor and ceramic hardplate--hence they are controlled by the NFA. I would love to have that pistol--but I have not heard of civilian ammo availability...which rounds are you shooting?
