Rebarreling a revolver

What can one expect to pay for having a revolver rebarreled?
I have a Ruger Speed Six .357 with a 2 3/4" barrel and I'd like to see about rebarreling it. It is a great gun but a tad short.
If I can rebarrel it, I can save myself a permit here in Jersey and have the .357 length I want.
Does rebarreling present any specific problems if done right? Is it an expensive endeavor?

Labor to rebarrel a revolver is 50-90 dollars. Why would you have to get a permit? For Gun Repair?

Every pistol you buy in Jersey requires a permit, at the moment I have 3 coming and I need a .357 with at least a 4" barrel. If I can rebarrel my speed six w/ 2 3/4" barrel, I won't haver to blow a permit on getting a longer .357 and can use it for something else.

If you already have the Pistol, then to have a gunsmith rebarrel it should not require a permit should it? You can buy a barrel and you have the same serial numbered gun, so all he has to do is switch it out I would think !

Right, that's what I'm saying. If I can get it rebarreled without ruining it, I don't need to use a permit to get a longer .357.

No problem...If you know a competent Gunsmith! Numrich used to carry the barrels, Or you can probably order one from Ruger!
