Moose Do you think the cooler temperatures have something to do with the polymer getting brittle. I have an older g23 that has not skipped a beat in years. I sure don't want a kaboom. Also I thought that Alaska was one big shooting range. Did I miss something? Quote:

Thats funny. I bet you 99% of Glock owners keep them stock and never have a problem. The reason so many companies make parts for Glocks is because Glocks are the most popular semiauto. Simple economics. Last edited by evilblackrifle; 01-01-2008 at 07:35 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost | |

I prefer the Sig over the Glock. They feel better in my hand, I shoot them better than the Glocks, and call me old fashioned, but I like my guns made from metal. I think Sigs have better sights too. Glocks ARE great guns, just not my cup of tea. |

I only own one Glock, The model G35, .40cal. tactical/practical and would like to own one or two more, other Glock models. I am in no way a professional or expert by any means. Did not take anything to get use to the Glocks trigger system. Shot and still shoots excellent right out of the box. I would also love to try one or 2 Sigs. The Texas Rangers ( not the baseball team, lmao)are known for always having high Quality sidearms. They (Texas Rangers, again, not the baseball team) can't be any more wrong then the 50% of the countries police force. On another note, Glock must have done something right, since their inception into our market of polymer/metal firearm, many, many others have copied the idea. They to must have realized it is a solid platform. Even Sig a has polymer/metal gun or 2, if I'm wrong on that about Sig now having polymer/metal, I'm sure someone will correct me. lol Can't be right all the time. Only our wives can do that, right guys(and ladies)? Personally, if it goes bang, I LOVE IT! G_Meister

I vote Sig. Both guns go bang, both guns are very reliable. Glocks don't fit well in my hand though. If the Glock had a grip closer to the 1911 (like the M&P grip or SR9 grip), then I would buy one in a heart beat. Until then, there is no point in buying something that I'm not confident with. But Glocks are fine weapons, as far as reliability goes. |

I bought my first Sig (P229 .40) a few months ago. I couldn't believe how well I shot it. I shot tighter, more consistant groups than I ever shot with either of my two 9mm's. (My 14 year old year old son, who is just being introduced to handguns, shot the Sig better as well.) As much as I love this pistol, I thought it a little larger and heavier than I wanted whenever the state completes the paperwork on my CHL. I borrowed a friends Glock .40 thinking I might opt for a G23 or even G27 for carry. I liked the trigger for carry over the DA/SA of my 229. But after comparing the accuracy (for me) of the Sig vs the Glock, I decided to buy a P239 SAS for my carry weapon. I am now a confirmed Sig fan, but Sigs are more expensive than Glocks (maybe why they are more common for law enforcement on budgets?). They are both great guns. The lesson is that you should shoot both before you decide. You might have just the opposite experience than mine. |

You can Nver go wrong with a GLOCK; As well as with a SIG. I own 6 Glocks, One issued Model 22. 2 Personal model 22's 40cal, One Model 23 1st gen. One model 27 40cal. and the new Glock model Slimline 36 45cal I own a SIG P229 as well, It's a very good gun, but i still have all faith in Glock. It will never fail unless U are a limp wristed fag.

Rock: Interesting choice of words you use there. My 6'3, 220lb Gay Son, who has never had a "limp wrist" problem while shooting got a kick out of it.. I guess using the term "fag" as a descriptive example works for some, but thankfully, not that many any more. Best Wishes, Jesse

I own 1 of each and personally. For a full size gun go for the sig 229. For a ccw weapon the g27/26 is a great small carry gun. In all fairness though I would probably pick my M&P 9 over both. Fits like a glove.

Both are reliable when properly fed and cared for, and more accurate than most shooters. For me it would be the Sig. Glocks don't feel right (or look right) to me. Sigs almost all feel like they were built for my hand. Controls are right where my fingers want to find them. With the Glock I find I'm constantly retaking my grip between shots. Robert Klaus |

I'm a Glock 23 owner and I like it. No problems. But I wish I had a Sig. I really think it's a better firearm. More accurate out of the box, and higher quality, for sure.

Go Sig for sure. I prefer Springfield over both Sig and Glock but since you asked about Sig and Glock go Sig. Glocks just don't do anything for me.

I gotta go with Glock. I like Sigs, but the Glock is just better for me. I've carried the same one for over 14 years and have never had one problem with it. I cannot say I'd ever own a Sig. Shot 'em quite a few times and they were accurate and reliable, but there's something about them I don't care for. Try one of each and see what you think yourself. Either way, it's your money and only you know what works best for you!

Noticed how old the thread was, but it's still a good discussion. I own both a Glock and Sigs. Both are fine choices, and someone buying one should try both out to see which they prefer and fit better. As far as shootability, hands down favorite for me is the Sig. Glocks are rugged and reliable (as are Sigs); I've just found the Sig to feel so much better shooting, and point better for me (and also fantastically accurate right out of the box). My favorite autoloaders are by far the Sig products.

asking Sig or Glock isn't like asking ford or chevy, it is more like asking Lincoln or Chevy. Both are good solid guns. Both have great reputations for reliability and accuracy. The Glock is known for being a solid rugged gun. The Sig is known for being reliable and accuracy as well but they are just nicer. They feel better in the hand IMO. They come in nicer higher end finishes. Glocks are Tactical tuperware and sigs are like fine china. All a mater of what you want.

I have been shooting revolvers and I am now in the market for a pistol. I have been reading about Glock and Sig and there are obvious differences of opinions. I was wondering if anyone would include S&W in the mix? I was contemplating 9mm. I shoot a S&W 686 and 620 using both 38special and 357mag. The recoil on this revolver is somewhat diminished with either ammo, due to overall gun weight and heavy rubber grip. For accuracy, I was thinking of going with one of the above pistols and I wanted to know how each compares in quality, reliability, and ease of breakdown and cleaning. Thanks |

Sig is the higher quality, more accurate gun. As for reliability, Id say both are, but Id count on the sig.
