MP5 Question

Are MP5's sold to the general public in a semi auto version?

i think some companies make them with long barrels. weird looking though.

I got to shoot one in full auto at a shoot in Fernley NV(35 miles east of Reno)

I haven't shot one full auto, tho there's a guy at the range who has one and shoots it, I may meander on down there with a box of 9's next time i hear it I've heard there's a 10mm MP5 type as well, that would be AWESOME

You generally find them with extended barrels.

The ones that the public gets are semi-auto, but with the full auto barrel, and suspisously easy to convert to full auto. Just a few minor mods and you have rock and roll.

The HK version was the HK-94, there was a US post ban version called the SW-5 by Special Weapons, and there are currently clones by Bobcat as shown and by Hesse/Vulcan (I think.) All of these have 16" barrels. Some have a neat full length handguard designed to simulate the appearance of the silenced model.

For 1/10th the price, it sure is a heck of a better deal.

All the modern Clones have been slapped together and will never give you the reliabilty of the true HK94. I saw one at my local "Pawn" shop, if you can call it that, for $2500. The real HK deal, no kidding.

But they're just so impractical. Get a RRA 9mm AR-15 if you want a 9mm carbine, mags have been dropping in price ever since the AWB got slaughter'd.

The SW-5 model uses a diffenrt style trigger pack than a regular MP-5. They did it something akin to the way the CETME's were converted. Ive looked them over at gunshows and the quaility just isnt there. Id go with the hi-point or a marlin camp 9 if you can find one.
