thompson contender problems

hello all, i have been experimenting with my 10" .44 magnum barrel. I cant seem to get a scope on it that will handle the severe recoil that it has, i have tried a cheap laser dot and withen 3 maxloads the site is screwed. I then went out and spent more money $168 on a bushnell propoint. Half a box of shells later it was also having problems. The site sometimes wont stay on and withen 2 shots its outa wack again. My question is, has anyone found a reliable scope for the thompson contender. It came with an original TC scope, but sadly the previous owner couldnt hang onto the gun and dropped it after fireing it. My local gunsmith said a buris or leopold would be good? any suggestions?
