Thanks for all the advice guys. I was in the bargain pistol market myself, and after listening to you guys and doing some research as well as talking to my dealer and getting his recommendation (he carries one himself). I saved a little extra and picked up a Bersa Thunder .380. I'd recommend it to anyone looking. It retails between $250-350. I got mine for $235 (military discount). A bargain weapon for the price with no junk parts. Has a limited lifetime warranty as well. Only draw back, very few custom parts available, but I'll promise you this, it'll fire in the clutch.

What is a person to believe?

Just what is the "facts" of the JA-9's? Can the plastic trigger be replaced? Have all of those who have negatively responded to these handguns actually fired, or owned one? I would like as much info. on these as possible before considering buying one. Regarding one of the posts that I did read regarding Taurus: We used one at the club. It took a beating (was a great target). For all of the other "cheaper" models, I can't comment.
So, just how long has the JA-9 been around anyway?

A long time and the 9mm Jennings/Bryco/Jimenez is the worst/most unreliable model. A lot of people have had good luck with the 380's/22's and 25's.

How much is your life worth? Your wife's? Your daughter's? Save your money and buy a good used higher quality firearm. If you don't feel comfortable buying used, take a knowledgeable friend along. I stress "knowledgeable."

Here are the guns I will not permit in my training classes:

Jennings
Bryco
Raven
Rohm
RG
Hi Point
Almost any revolver made in Germany or Spain (yeah, I know there are a few good ones, but I don't have time to figure out which is which).

Seen too many of these guns that are just unsafe to shoot. Guess I'll have to add Jimenez to the list.

Hi Point shouldn't be on that list.

Had never heard of them or seen one until now. But knowing it's a Jennings clone tells me all I need to know.

Everyone bashes Jimenez based off of info that came from california...

As in the same California that most gun dealers wont ship guns to because they are a bunch of liberal douche bags who want to make anything that goes bang illegal. Then there is a kid that shot his friend. Seriously how much credit can you give a twelve year old that is playing with a loaded weapon?

I own a Ja Nine. Bought it brand new. Have put at least two thousand rounds thru it. No problems. No cracks or excessive wear. It Has never jambed ever. I think there is alot of people speaking out in here who have never owned or even held a Jimenez. One guy said they are a pain in the ars o take apart. Maby if you have an extra cromosome but retards shouldnt own guns anyway.

Then you take the solid barell into consideration. So if the gun does explode the slide will catch on the barell keeping it from hitting you in the face. Thats alot safer than the sigma I own. If the S$W Sigma comes apart I am getting a slide imbeded in my forehead.

I had no idea Jimenez was made in CA up until right now. I would not have bought one before reading this post and still won't buy one now. Junk made in CA, junk made in FL, Junk made in China, Junk made in Egypt, Junk made in Hawaii all have one thing in common. They are all junk. It's got nothing to do with where they are made.

ya.........if you posted a video of you firing 300 rounds out of it in a row without a jam......i might be more inclined to believe that statement

this is the internet friend, ive heard alot, alot of things

so until i buy one of my own (which i probably will just for the hell of it) or until i see someone do it, im going to keep branding them as one of the biggest POS firearms on the market

Thumbs up Ja 9mm

I recently purchased a Ja 9mm and I have put over 600 rounds through it in 3 days. This gun is one of the best I have owned. I also have a S and W and that don't compare. I think you other guys just like to pick up on what others say and run with it. Other guns are just as dangerous you need to read the manual and take a practice course. Then respond on what you think.

Angry jimenez JA-9 NOT JUNK

I own a ja-9 and previosly owned a Taurus PT 92 (Beretta Remake) the ja-9 is shorter by 2 inches and still very accurate I put over 500 rounds through it with no problems other than 4 or 5 jams at around 100 rounds all i had to do was stretch the spring in the clip no more jamming. It hardly shows that it has been shot unlike the S and W pictures I saw that showed 3 or 4 life threatening cracks after 500 rounds. I suggest that all you guys with 5 or 6 hundred dollar guns shoot the Jimenez before you bash them they are cheap and very accurate and as for the lawsuit who the heck was bright enough to give a 12 year old a loaded handgun and leave them unsupervised.
