Another thing.
These guns are made of cast iron and coated in zinc. I know this doesn't change how safe they are but the fact remains there is a Hung CAST IRON stamp under the grips. So if someone cant even get the type of material used to make the gun correct how much do you actually think they know about the gun?

I bought a Jimenez JA9 on 4/4/09 and I shot it for the first time today which is 4/17/09 and I had some many problems with it, the bullets wouldnt fit in the clips right the would go all sideways in the clip and when I would cock it back the bullet whould go straight up in the gun not into the barrel, I had one get stuck in the barrel and the cock wouldnt close all the way, everytime it would shoot the clip would fall out, I mean dont get me wrong its a nice looking gun an all and when it shot it was very nice and smooth but I wouldnt trust it to be something I would use as a home defense cause its not gaurenteed to work, I never had any problems with my High Point 45 I used to have that was the best cheap gun I have ever owned

This is all the proof I need.."Quote from LA Times""
"Jimenez Arms, formerly known as Bryco Arms, was ordered by the California Department of Justice in January to stop making its JA-9 model. Earlier, the agency ordered company owner Paul Jimenez to stop selling the automatic pistol.
In a Jan. 13 letter to Jimenez, authorities told him the handgun would be subjected to new safety tests. If the weapon passes the tests, the company will be allowed to resume sales.
The pistol was tested by three state-certified laboratories last year and failed each time. The tests were ordered by attorney Richard R. Ruggieri, a critic of Jimenez Arms and its predecessor. Ruggieri provided the test results to state officials.
Ruggieri represents Brandon Maxfield, a Northern California teenager who was left a quadriplegic a decade ago after being shot accidentally with a defectively designed Bryco gun. He was awarded nearly $51 million in compensatory damages by a jury in 2003.
Jimenez, Bryco's former plant manager, bought the company in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in June."
If it is Crap and still works , it is still CRAP !!!

I am just getting into shooting and guns. I was shooting a friends S&W .38 revolver and loved it. I went to a gun show to buy my own and was attracted to the Jimenez Arms 9mm due to the low price. You guys don't need to jump all over me and say that I should have done my research, that's obvious now. But, what recommendations would you have for getting rid of it. Many of you have me a bit worried about the thing blowing my face/hand/etc off. Just take it to a pawn shop and see what I can get for it??? Any other suggestions???
Also, all the links about them leaving CA and moving to Nevada are from 2005 I believe. Anyone know if there have been improvements to the gun in the last couple years?
BTW- I did go to the range and shoot it right away. I had some problems getting the rounds to chamber. But, it did not jam once in the 100 rounds I put through it today.

BTW- I know web forums are notorious for BS, but can we try to keep this thread constructive please!!!!!
