| Information of guns I'm writing a story in which the characters mostly have guns. I couldn't be any noobier, so I would really need a lot of help with everything related to guns, since I can't find clear pages with information online. First of all tell your experiences and feelings when you shoot a gun. Is the sound loud, what does it feel like to pull the trigger, what do you need to do when you shoot a gun? First experience when you shot a gun? Second of all I need to know some general guns names and also direct products' names, please. What guns are good for example A) Shooting from a long distance? B) Shooting from a short distance, some kind of pistols? Guns' names please? Some kind of close combat -weapons? C) Big and powerful guns, shotguns, rifles? Information etc. Does it really matter what kind of close combat -gun you have, if you literally press the gun onto the thing you are shooting and pull the trigger? I also need information just to what on earth do you have to make sure and think of before you shoot a gun. It can't be that you just always point and then pull the trigger and it shoots? Safety catch on, how/when? Do you use it? What are the basics of bullets, I know calibers are an important thing, but could someone explain the basics? How many bullets are there usually (does it matter do you have a rifle, pistol?) in one 'chamber' or whatever they are and where do you know how many bullets you can fit into a gun, pistol for example? What weapons are um.. automatic and how does it effect the gun? From what does a bullet reflect back from? Superhypermetal? Basics of reloading different types of guns. What do you do when you realize that your pistol/rifle/shotgun etc. is out of bullets? Is it better to buy bullets from the store or someone who's specialized in making them? How do you make your own bullets? Where is it the easiest to carry the bullets, if you have lots of them? Is it hard to rip your gun apart and then put it back together? Again: how? What would you suggest for a sort of beginner, who needs to have a first a light pistol (it would be good if this would be cheap*) and then after a while have a better one that is REALLY good? Anything will be fine, you can answer all the questions, one of them or tell me something I haven't asked at all! Squeeze all your information here, please! P.S. *Otherwise the price doesn't matter at all of course, because again, it's just a story. |

| I'm going to recommend that you get someone to take you shooting and experience it for yourself. There's really not any way to answer all those questions. |

| First you cannot equate the experience of combat in real terms until you have experienced it, next you cannot know what it feels like to fire a weapon until you know it and have done it. Lastly there are some things that are best learned first hand . You can describe the scent of expended gunpowder and the horrors of combat but you can never truly relate them until YOU are there and in the thick of it! I am an American Fighting man and if need be I will fight again to preserve who I am, my family and this nation. But I never want to have to again

| A) Bolt action rifle, preferably in .308 Caliber. Ex. Remington 700, with Leupold scope and rings B) Shotgun. Remington 870 12 guage. Pump action and can hold 7+1 with an adapter. C) 12 guage shotgun no doubt. Can blast through walls, put a ginormous hole in a car, and can stop mostly anyone alive. Also, bullets can richochet from water, metal, wood, anything solid. FMJ type bullets do this ALOT. TV bullets and real bullets act a lot different.

| Finland has a rich hunting and military history. I would suggest finding one or more local military veterans who served, and can relate their experiences and knowledge. These old vets are dying off, especially those of WWII. Their memories and experiences should be recorded for posterity. They are a fading resource of history! Police officers are another good source of gun information, as well as hunters. Personal prejudices and preferences will be there, but also some good info.

| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | As I recall, the first rule in writing is to write about something you've experienced. So if you're gonna write about guns, here's some ways to get some experience. First of all, I don't know about gun laws in Finland. if that is where you live. But, here's some possibilities where you might experience something about guns. 1. Visit and join a firing range. Try out several guns. Some ranges rent them to customers for a reasonable fee. 2. Do a search on the WEB. Plenty of information is available there. Here's one web site with a wealth of information about different guns. View each gun, read about their descriptions, and learn their values. AuctionArms.com - Online Gun Auction 3. Visit a gun shop which displays many different guns. Talk to sales people there. These are only a few ideas where you can begin your gun knowledge. Good luck... and I hope you'll eventually let us know on Gunandgame.com the nature of the story that you think you might write.

| Doc: Herbert is a Ginny pig (I can't remember how to spell correctly) that my son dumped on me when he resigned from teaching 4 years ago. He's like any pet you've been around a while, you get attached...A.H |
