| My wife has some I could pinch from her for the project...borrow on a non-returnable basis that is. Besides, one of the rifle sights that needs to be redone is on the 44 lever gun she likes to shoot...so we'll call the nail polish/hardener a contribution to the cause...

| Military Rifle Collector ![]() | I bought the glow in the dark paint from Sportsmans Guide and that works great. It lasts about 3 hours per charge and you get enough to paint a lot of sights. And anything else you want to find in the dark. I painted one key on my ring and can find it right away now.

| I know this might sound like another "Red Neck" solution, but my wife has a FEG 9mm with iron sights. She painted them with the ugliest brightest nail polish she could find. kinda orangish white glowy stuff. anyway it shows up well in low light and stays on. Think of it this way. If it doesn't work for you, your out about 2 bucks and your wife/ girlfriend had a new bottle of nail polish! |

| Thanks for more input... My wife and I went to Wally's last night, looking for a sight paint option. We searched through the hobby section and the finger nail polishes. We saw some bright red/orange colors, even some of the sparkle stuff...but not what we were hoping for. So, I come home and started searching the net for a paint that would glow, and found these glow paints that Capt'n mentioned. They're a little more expensive, but seem to be worth the extra cost. I also learned that some of these "glow" paints glow longer than others. It seems the oil based ones glow the longest? Here's a site that offers a variety of glow paints: Orange Glow in the Dark Paint! I'm also waiting to hear back from Billy and learn about his visit to Wally's for paint options...

| Military Rifle Collector ![]() | The glow paint comes with a white base as well. Whatever you use you should paint it white then whatever color your going to use for best results.

| Senior Member | If you have a modeller's shop handy that sells radio control cars like Yokomo, Associated or Losi, look for the paint used to do the bodies. This is a very low gloss paint made by several folks that's applied to the inside of clear polycarbonate bodies. The racing orange, ferrari red and penske yellow really makes a set of sights stand out even in low light and have none of the glare of gloss finishes like typical paints or nail enamel. |

| spiritual counselor ![]() ![]() | these were taken under my desk in the shade. i dont like the yellow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() those sights would be invisible before the paint. it REALLY helped the 1911

| I just returned from town; having located a hobby shop that sells the paint being mentioned, a day glow florescent, that's used on models like DWF mentioned. It is bright, blaze bright, florescent red...the brightest in that color they had. It looks like a blaze orange/red. Thanks Capt'n for the recommendation to put a white undercoat on first. Billy, it looks like your getting the paint to go on well; possibly a good undercoat before the final blaze bright color? What size of brush are you using? I picked up a size O one, plus a tiny bottle of thinner to clean it up with afterwards.

| Just find a piece or get a piece of fiber optic and use some CA glue and glue it on top of the ramp. But there should be some after market sights, both front and rear for most brands out there, both handgun and revolver... Quote:
![]() seeing as how that's what you should be focusing on mostly anyways? Up to you though. They should also make something for the rear, but here's the link for the Hi-Viz for the front of your XD... XD2007 - Springfield XD Front Sight
