how can i check a serial number

Before i buy this used pistol is there a way to check the serial number?

I think the only way is to have your local LE agency run the number. I could be wrong though.

Most any PD or SO would more than likey be happy to run it through NCIC for you.

I have checked numerous serial numbers for people and myself.

are u law enforcement or do u want to keep the info for yourself?

If he gets me the serial number can i pm it to you and get i checked or do you have to have the gun?

Most police departments will run a SN for you. The thing is, if they get a hit on it they will be following up you don't get a choice on that. They need the make and mdl. information because you often get a hit on the SN but it's for another kind of gun.
