| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | Looks like a tough test, and I'd say for the most part it passed. Now for a dirt and sand test. How's it fire when it's thrown down and around under those conditions? I would guess that the .45ACP 1911 A1 would pass tests such as those above and even more...but I think it's the toughest of all guns made for working under bad conditions.

| Senior Member | I would love to do one of these, but not on my Springfield that cost me 500.00. But if someone wanted to give me stuff and tell me what to do, now that would be awesome. I was hearing about an independent magazine that actually goes out and buys the weapons test them(not torture test) and then either sells them or gives them away. Very Objective. |

| Moderator ![]() | SS - you may be talking of "Guntests". They take the guns, test them against others of the same niche or design, and they take NO advertising, so no need to kowtow to any manufacturer. Sometimes, the tests are surprising - the High-Points scored well against other inexpensive pistols, and against bigname guns too. Sometimes, the supposed "best" lost out to the cheapos. ![]() GT also carried out long-term testing, to see how the guns stood the test of time.

| Senior Member | Hi point I have two hipoint handguns. I have had them for several months. Both fire fine and are accurate. Limp wristing causes them to not eject well. I hand load and they will eat almost every round that I make. 3gr of trail boss with lead bullets is fine as is 8 grains of alliant 2400. I have had to have one magazine replaced and needed to have a firing pin spring replaced on the striker. It was working but not firing all the time with CCI primed cartridges. I have fired thousands of rounds. They are made in the same vein as the AK with loose fitting parts. I paid 150 for my 45 and 130 for my nine with two magazines. I have since purchased more mags. I've got other hand guns with bigger price tags but mostly when I shoot autos, they are HPs. |

| Senior Member | We saw that test on the Hi Point Forum. You either love Hi Points, or you hate them, there is very little middle ground for the weapons. I own a 9 carbine and started out suspicious of it. Brand new, if suffered frequent failures to eject and stove pipes until it was broke in properly. Now I couldn't ask for a more reliable or accurate gun to shoot. I went as far as putting a red dot scope on it and after about three months, pulled it off and put the iron sights back on it. It shot better with it's stock sights than with an add on. Yes, there are those that say they are cheaply made guns. Maybe they are, but Hi Point will stand behind their product when something does go bad with them and you won't wait 6 months to have them deal with the problem. I was at a gun show recently discussing Beretta Storms with a dealer and comparing them to the Hi Point 40 carbine. At one point the dealer told me that he had owned both weapons and shrugged, saying, he'd paid a little over 200 for his Hi Point and over 600 for his Storm, and it was his opinion that one shot just as well as the other. Not everyone can afford a 600 dollar plus gun. Owning a cheap Hi Point is better than owning no gun at all if there is a bad guy beating down your front door. |

| Senior Member | The one thing that always comes to mind about hi-point is they have the fastest purchase to street rate of all handguns something like under 6 months. What that means is from the time they are bought to the time they make it to the street and are used in a crime is very short. Obviously this is not all hi points, and it is probably due to their cheap pricetag. Does this make them a bad gun. Nope. Just has always stuck in my head. |

| Senior Member | Lead Shortage in felons I have never heard of the term. Where did you get your terminology and data. Mine are available to any criminal that can take them from me. I will increase their the amount of lead in their system in the process. Quote:

| Member | I picked up a new Hi-Point 380 at the Yuma gun show. Price: $141 with tax. Close inspection showed razor sharp edge on breech. I loaded a round in the clip, cycled the slide & the cartridge slid right it. First shot fired fine & ejected the empty shell. A full magazine followed & I actually hit the golf ball I was aiming at, on the third shot, then 2 more hits, same clip. Wow, I'm impressed. I ran a box of 50 through it, no misfires, no problems, nothing! I'm happy! I like the way it fits my hand & most important, the 380 & heavy gun does NOT irritate my arthritic wrist. I think I'll shoot this one a lot! Good job Hi-Point! I'm a happy customer! |

| Senior Member | I have never owned one, but I did get to handle one a friend was buying. What really turned me off was the amount of plastic parts on them; the trigger was loose and made of plastic. For the same money I can buy a mauser or makarov. With the exception of the one post here today I have never heard anything negative from their owners. Their owners LOVE them.

.22Guy, I like the Carbine, and have one. I don't care for the pistols only because they are ugly. They have a good rep for function. I don't rule out my possibly getting one. I AM the guy who utterly hates the abominable little Plumber's Nightmare called the Kel-Tec Sub2000!
