I did some research and found that your problem was not with the ammo, it was with the magazine. It seems that this was common in the earlier mags, then they changed the design of the followers and the problem went away. Get the mags with the "red" followers and you should be OK. Check out a website called
Savvysurvivor index, it has a review section with gunsmithing tips on the Witness pistols. I don't think the site is active but it is still there.
