Thumbs up Witness (Tanfoglio) pistols

How come nobody ever talks about Witness pistols????
I have a Witness Polymer compact .45 ACP. I love the thing. Good balance, minimal recoil, and very accurate. I have to get to know my Itallian companion better before I can say more, but let's hear from other Tanfoglio owners.

Actually, we have discussed them a few times. Search the archives. I personally started at least one thread on the brand, so I know there are some posts on the board.

A friend has one in .45 cal. and loves it. I have fired it and it shoots good, however it is a little pricey for me.

They're copies of the CZ75, that makes them a great gun

I've always wanted to pick up the EAA Witness 10mm semi-auto pistol with the metal frame. Seemed like a great little hand cannon. Just never had the chance to try one out and I don't buy pistols (that aren't C&R) without trying a model at the range first.

Witness

I bought my poly frame compact .45 ACP from a pawn shop for $330. I found that MSRP is around the $375 to $425 range, so I can't complain to much. The same store has a steel frame full size .45 for $399 now. Used I think, but in almost new condition. The owner is talking about becoming a factory dealer if the guns catch on around here. Nobody knows what they are. Everybody has the Glock mindset. "There is no other gun made except Glock or a 1911". How STUPID can people be??? I'll put my Witness against any other gun any time. My TZ99 9mm also. FYI $230 used, and able to do 3" groups at 50 ft.

Don - I have a Witness "compact" (actually it's the mid-size) steel .40. I love it! The only thing I DON'T like is the weight. It's a great home defense and range gun, but too heavy & thick to wear CC. I want to sell it and get a compact .40 poly frame. I may by-pass the .40 and got to a smaller .45 (but what to do with a bunch of .40 ammo????).

And I am willing to wager that you have neither owned nor shot one before.

A good friend of mine has an older model, metal-framed EAA Witness 9mm.

On one of our outings we took it along to do some target shooting. His Witness was a sweet, solid shooter, magazine after magazine, and was also really accurate. We experienced no problems with my friend's Witness on our brief outing.

Should a Witness and I cross paths, I will give it a look over and most likely buy it.

I'll bet that he thinks that the only "REAL" guns are Glocks and 1911's.

Well, I have owned two and sold both of them. I am not going to talk bad about them but they were just not for me. I will say that in 10mm they do not put a heavy enough recoil spring in them. My first one had some feeding problems - may last did not. They are OK guns for the money, but they are not as good as Glock or mid-range or better 1911's. You tend to get what you pay for - typically. I don't plan on buying another Witness any time soon. By the way, I primarily own Glocks and 1911's now - just a coincidence as they are other good guns out there.

I owned one in .40 caliber. It felt good, looked good, but I had way too much trouble with it. It was ammo particular, would not function with anything but the expensive ammo. Blazer was a total no-no, would fail to feed very often, and smokestack something ferocous. I tried to sell it butnobody was interested. I ended up giving that one to my ex also; along with my Helwan. Perhaps the .45 is better.

I have a Witness clone, it's called a CZ 75. Does that count?

I lke dwarren123's comment that his cz75 is a clone(its the other way around of course) I have a witness in 38 super because I always wanted something in that cal. I haven't shot it much yet but its seems like a keeper so far and I would advise someone to buy one. They are priced affordable and shoot well and you can get them in many cal.

Man... that's the exact model (with the exception wanting 10mm) that I wanted.

Hrm... Well, I'd be more than happy to feed that .40 ammo to my hungry "baby" GLOCK 27.

I have a 10mm Polymer. It'll digest anything I feed it, at any temp I dare to shoot at. Love this gun. Sold my glock 20. Too bulky for me. Just personal preference!

I just bought a Force .45 cal. Anyone have any problems with the .45's? I have had several handguns over the years and when I picked this one up it seemed to "fit" my hand better than any I have owned. is there alot of differance in the felt recoil with the poly frame?

I had one in 9MM and it ate everything I fed it. Loved that gun and have considered getting another just haven't done it yet.
