Try a Ruger Blackhawk in .30 carbine, or a Magnum Research .45-70 govt SA. Then there's Kel-Tec's PLR in .223.

I own a FN 5.7 , it shoots a 5.7 28mm round. Its cool as hell holds twenty rounds minnimal recoil has a flat tragectory at one hundred yards ( no shit here bench shot it at 100 my self and I didnt have any problem hitting my target). It even has adjustable sights like a rifle. Fully loaded it weighs just over 2 pounds. Costs 900 and can be purchased from bass proshop or have your dealer order it for you. Ammo cost is 20$ for fifty rounds, It gets exspensive because you can go through rounds like you were shooting an AK!

I have a NEF .223 that had a cracked stock and I figured what the hell, so I took it to a good friend of mine to be shortened and custom pistol grip. I will try and get some pics up because it looks great and is fun to shoot. Barrel is 8 3/4 inches and he made the pistol grip out of a brand new T/C Grip.

I hope that wasn't a rifle or if it was you got the paper work done first.

jaeger, you may want to check on the legality of your NEF. to the best of my knowledge NEF has never produced it as a pistol, which would make it a felony to be in possesion of what you described. unless of course, you have a tax stamp from the ATFE.

i would opt for the .223, but not because of recoil. i figure your not going to be shooting a pistol much past 200yds, so the 22-250's extra speed is not really a factor. plus, when reloading the 22-250 uses more powder, and brass is typically cheaper for the .223 . just some thoughts.

Wildeys aren't as easy to come by as you'd expect. (Not least because of their association with Charles Bronson's Paul Kersey in Death Wish III.) There's one that looks like it's barely been fired in .44 Magnum at the local gun shop for $1500 that's been there for three months, that came in as part of an estate liquidation, and while a lot of people have drooled on the counter, no one has made a serious offer yet.

I'm not sure if the .44 Magnum qualifies as a rifle cartridge, even though Ruger has made a carbine for it. But the Wildey is available in .475, and that definitely does qualify. You could even shoot a bear with one and he'd definitely feel it. He might even lie down and die.

Besides which, unlike the XP-100 and that abortion from Kel-Tec, the Wildey looks... elegant. If you are going to own a rifle-caliber pistol, you ought to own one that is a thing of beauty in every line and curve of it.

A while back you were thinking about buying a Marlin lever action in a pistol caliber.
