| i want to buy a handgun
but me being 19 put me in the no can do range, but i had heard from a somewhat sketchy source than you can buy them from a private seller as i am uninformed i havent even tried to do this yet, let alone save up the money for a handgun i very well cant purchase i live in georgia and even though we have some decent gun laws i know i cant buy the pistol from a vender, or carry one (im not that dumb) ive tried researching it but all i could really find that made any sense was the BATF rules and the laws explained by the Brady organization (not really wanting to trust either one for obvious reasons) anyone know of it for sure or can find a definite answer i would be much obliged |

stalebiscuit: Sir; I know nothing about Georgia law. go to Georgia DOJ [department of justice] Before you get you behind in a sling. A moment of joy could follow you the rest of your life. In NC it will be a felony to sell to the ?minor? under 21 follow up with what you find.

In Maine, buying a handgun in any way while under 21 is a big no no. Even buying handgun ammo is frowned upon. I know it sucks, but don't screw up and ruin your chances to buy and shoot handguns for the rest of your life. GA law might be different then Maine law, but I doubt it. If you can get someone else to buy a handgun and take you to the range with it, then I think that would be legal. Good luck |

federal law states that you can't transfer a handgun to anyone under 21 except for temporarily for a supervised legal activity such as hunting or target shooting. it also states that you can't own handgun ammo until you're 21

Celebrate your 21st with a totally legal purchase. You may regret it otherwise. Oh to be young again!

sounds like a good plan to me, i was thinking that way anyway only thing is, i have bought handgun ammo before (my friend has a hi point 9 mm carbine) and ive purchased some for my friends 9mm and .38 as a house warming gift (hes got a CCW so no worries there, hes over 21) i didnt know the feds made it illegal to even allow people under 21 to keep handgun ammo anyway i think ill play it safe and follow yalls advice, ill be 21 by may of 09 anyhow, so no worries ill take that cash and get a stoeger coach instead |

its against federal law. FL is in the U.S.A. some arent the brightest bulb, then they have to openly admit it on an internet site. 99% of criminals get caught because they just had to tell someone what they did.

i did much research on this subject because i am 20 and federal law states that a person under 21 cannot buy a handgun from a ffl dealer but they can have a handgun given to them as a gift or from private sales as long as they are 18 years old then it is nocked down to state laws in texas you can even cary a hangun in your car as long as you are over 18 and someone else baugt it |

You sir and people like you are the reason we have gun grabbers trying to step on our rights and take our guns away. If you are so ignorant as to advertise such an activitie on world wide internet, then you are ignorant enough to do something stupid. Have you ever heard the saying NEVER CHIT WHERE YOU EAT. Consider the warning, because you can screw yourself and loose your rights for life. | |

And we wonder why they want to change the rules for gun shows and even try to stop them all together. As previously mentioned, I hope as well that the person you've traded it to isn't of the iffy personality? I hope for your sake even more that they were of age and that this person doesn't sell, trade, give it to someone else under age or have it stolen or whoever has it or ends up with it doesn't do something stupid with it. Because the odds are, if your prints are on file, and found anywhere on it, guess whos' door they'll a come a knocking on? These are the responsible things one has to consider, BEFORE doing thus ending up being irresponsible. G-Meister

wait till your 21 no need to pick up a felony over the matter and then having your rights reduced to owning a sling shot! I'm in agreement with that law. only exception I would make, if I had any thing to say about it?Is some one who had served in the military under adverse conditions," war vet" other then that i don't believe waiting till your 21 is all that bad? thats just my humble opinion
