HI feller Welcome to GUN and GAME. All the Guns mentioned are worthy guns to own. I've got to say something about the guy who said Glocks were JUNK. That raised the Hackels on my neck !!! Tell me why probably 97% of LEO's agentcys have changed to Glocks and I just learned the U.S. Air Force put in a huge order for Glocks. That guy is wrong of cource. Be mindful if your going to carry it concealed your gonna have to buy something approprit for you build . And to Target shoot with it on a regular basis you need a pistol up to the task and I know the Glock can do it all depending on the model you buy. (concealablity) My son is an LEO and has 2 Glocks so I can tell you first hand there one of the best. When he has to do quailifieing with them he shoots expert. My vote goes to Glocks...A.H |

AH, Nobody said they were junk (at least I don't think anyone did). They just feel a bit awkward in the hand. While a lot of LEO's use Glocks, there are a lot more today switching to the new generation of striker fired handguns (M&P, XD, SR9, etc) Smith & Wesson Receives Order from Colorado State Patrol |

Everybody has an oinion. Thats great. But what I'm not seeing here is this... Here are the real questions to help you in buying your first pistol. What Caliber? I would go with a 9mm or .40 S&W. Are you going to carry it open or concealed? If concealed, are you a small or large framed person? This has a lot to do with wha you can carry and conceal easily. The gun should tuck away easily and not print (stick out trough your clothes) much or at all. It should also be comfortable to wear and be easy to draw, which brings up another question. The holster. Outside the waistband or inside the waistband? I prefer inside for concealed carry. Does it fit your hand? You should be able to reach the safety, trigger and mag release easily and comfortably. When you grip the gun, it should be comfortable and not dig in or rub anywhere. It should NOT be too small or too big. Work the action, is to easy to operate? Is it too hard to work? Can you field strip it without tools? Find a gun that fits you. Don't worry about the CDI and cool factor. Worry about price last. And watch out for those who try to push you into buying a certain type of gun. Also watch out for used guns. Not saying that they are bad, but make sure it is in good shape and that everything works. Most of all, BUY IT FROM A REPUTABLE DEALER!!!! I can go more in depth with the questions and answers, but not here. You can email me @ Belaglesius@aol.com to talk more. Here is a list of what I carry concealed: Kahr CW40 .40 cal Rock Island Armory 1911 .45 ACP (got kicked out of Wal-Mart for carrying this one) Ruger P94 .40 cal And a list of what else I own: Springfield XD .45 ACP (the one NOT legal in CA) S&W M&P9C 9mm Taurus PT 24/7 Pro .45ACP (2) Raven .25 cal (very small) |
