| Banned | Handgun Training A few years ago, actually, about 25 years ago, I bought my first good handgun, a S&W Model 10. I got one of those reloaders that you assemble ammo with a hammer and I was set. I learned to target shoot at paper but realized that it was less than realistic. I lived way out in the Appalachian Mts. then, near some old logging roads used by the local party animals for beer can disposal. I invented a game that greatly improved my shooting. I'd walk along those roads (of course being careful concerning my backstop), and carefully draw and fire every time I saw a beer can along the ditches, etc., reholster, and move on to the next victim. I gradually got faster. I added in tactical reloads with quick loaders, double taps, multi targets. In short, if you are learning to shoot, and have a safe place to do this, make up your own game. |

| I'd forgotten about those minimalist hand-held loaders that didn't use a press, Lee made them, didn't they? I wonder if they still do? Edit: Omigod they do, the little Lee Loader, they cost $30. How long did it take you to make a cartridge with this thing? Lee Precision, Inc. Reloading Tools and Equipment: Classic Lee Loader Last edited by Taurus Fan; 03-22-2008 at 07:09 PM. |

Seems like after I got used to it I could put out about 50 rounds an hour. I was a poor college student with family at the time and I thought that I was in high cotton being able to shoot on a tight budget. | |

| Hehe I still do that type of walk and shoot! I live just about twenty minutes from Monteagle TN and there are many hills and trails on a friend of mines property where we used to ride 4wheelers and now we just shoot and have a great time |

| Mitch, Another good place to shoot in the East Tennessee area is out in Norris Park area, it's a police training area, but they let other people shoot there as well. They only charge around $24 a year at there outdoor range that's way out in the woods. If you like the Appalachian Mountains, I have some friends I go hunting with who live way up in the mountains in Morgan Co. That's another good place to practice.
