| Exalted Grand Poobah ![]() | .40 and .357 Sig is that close ?? I haven't kept up with the '.40S&W vs. .357Sig' threads/dramas. My apologies. Stampings on a magazine from my Cougar .40 made me curious... ![]() The magazine is marked 'CAL 40 S&W - 357 SIG'. They're close enough in size to use the same magazine?

| The 357 SIG is basically a 40 S&W necked down to 9mm so yes the mags are usually interchangeable.

But, what would be the advantage in that? Higher velocity in a smaller bullet? But, what's the advantage in that? Over penetration?

| yes, you can generally fit a second barrel and have a pistol that will fire both cartridges. |

| I thought alot about getting a .357 sig over a .40sw. I opted for the .40sw. I like the bigger hole idea and ballistics are rather close. BTW it is a .40sw necked to .357, not 9mm. Quote:

Nope, the .357 Sig is loaded with .355" diameter bullets, the same as 9mm.

| In a Glock, all you have to do is switch the barrels between the 357sig and 40. You have two guns for the price of an extra barrel.
