Anyone have problems with Wolf ammo?

I just purchased a new S&W .40 mp and put 50 rounds of wolf ammo through it. I have to say that it is the most awful ammo I have ever shot. Almost every shot jammed and I had to knock the slide forward to get it to feed. Then after a while, the casings kept getting stuck inside the barrel. I fed Remingtons through it no problem. Is this an isolated issue or is it pretty common with this ammo? (Two of the guys I was shooting with said they had the same problems).

I contacted WOLF and they said they would replace the ammo. Problem is, if the ammo stinks, I dont know if I want any more even if it is free. (A friend of mine purchased it at a gun show so I dont know if it was old or something).

Any thoughts???

I've heard of problems with their older steel cased ammo. Supposedly it's been fixed but I still don't shoot it.

some guns dont like it at all and some will eat it right up
the steel cases dont expand like brass
and also i heard the laquer or something they put on the cases will build up in the chamber
i have a saiga in 223 and it shoots just fine infact i just ordered 500 rnds

the ammo usally works good in guns with looser tolerences like ak-47's and sks's
and alot of people have problems in guns with tighter tolerences like the ar 15

i hope i was of some help

lorcin, it all depends on the firearm.

My M&P-9mm hasn't had issues, but I've only put 50 rounds of wolf through it. The only gun that I like to use wolf in is my SKS, firing 7.62x39mm ammo.

My M1 Carbine, which I thought at one point would feed anything, chokes every time on wolf ammo.

Another thing I hate about wolf is that it's incredibly dirty...I mean, dirty, like, why don't I just throw my barrel in a pool of mud and let it dry, dirty.

Another thing about some wolf ammo is that some of it (at least my .30 carbine ammo did) smells very very bad. I know ammo isn't supposed to smell good (although I kind of like the smell of black powder smoke), but this smells of ammonia or bleach. The smoke literally burns my eyes and nose on contact.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that your M&P didn't like the wolf. I think I was one of the people that pushed for you to get the M&P in the first place, and now I kind of feel that I let you down.

If wolf offers some more ammo, I would definitely accept it, as long as its free. To fix your solution, I would try Winchester White Box or CCI Blazer for cheap ammo solutions.

One more thing. Wolf ammo uses Berdan Primers. While wolf claims the ammo isn't corrosive, I am not convinced. Based on the smoke, smell, and debris left behind, I clean my guns much more after shooting wolf than I would after shooting boxer primed ammo. Make sure to scrub the chamber really good. It seems like laquer might have built up in your M&P from firing the wolf ammo, and that might be a cause for extraction and feeding problems.

Was the bullet type in the Remington different? Maybe thats the issue. If not, then your Smith doesn't like it! Plain and simple. Just switch it up

Pistols are sometimes are picky about what you feed them, especially .380's & 9mm. Using Brown Bear, my S&W Model 39 sees a jam with split case & failure to extract on every other shot. (Saved the bullets & trashed the rest.) I've heard a bit of the same about .40's. If the case has a coating, that could be a problem. I've never had any problems with Sellior & Bellot in any caliber. Have only used S&B, Magtech & Winchester in my .45, but mostly, I reload.
Wolf works great in my SKS & AK - same comments from other responders. Obviously, that's a brand your M&P won't tolerate. The M&P is a fine pistol, so you might call S&W and see what they have to say.
