| Thinking of getting a... Phoenix Arms HP 22 w/ the range-master kit. Anyone have any experience with these? The reviews I've read say they are acceptable firearms despite an unnecessarily complicated safety system. Anyone own one?

| I looked one over in a gun shop. I liked the pistol, but the double safety is pretty wierd. I understand it can be removed, but I do not know that for sure.

| I had one (including the extra longer target barrel). It was a neat looking little sucker, but completely unreliable. I will say Phoenix Arms warranty folks are nice to deal with and they'll send you free new recoil springs in a heartbeat.. (You'll be very appreciative of this..) My old fart suggestion would be to save your money a buy a little better 22cal. pistol. I had an early Taurus PT22 that was crap, but my Warden Buddy (and his Deputy) each bought one at the same time, (this was years ago), and they had no trouble whatsoever. In fact for long time I think he used the little 22 as a last ditch b/u loaded with CCI Stingers. For all I know the new Phoenix Arms pistols are better, but they weren't reliable enough at the time I had mine. YMMV Jesse
