smith and wesson sights

The factory sights on my new S&W 1911 are calibrated terrible. I need a much taller front sight (3" HIGH POI at 25 yards) the the rear sights need to be moved to the right to accomodate a 3" difference between POA and POI. Worst out of the box sights I have ever experienced.

Can anyone recommend a good afternarket sight that will make the necessary corrections. I don't want to go to lazer grips sights at this point in time. My dealer thinks his lazer sighting "machine" can make a big improvement over what I have now and I may take the pistol to him Thurs or Friday.

I've been pistolshooting for 50+ years and this is the worst shooting pistol I have ever owned or shot. I go to the range once a week and was embarassed with last weeks results.

Any suggestions would be appreciated !!

Can't help you, but I do comisirate nwith you. I've written S&W twice asking for advice on a scope and mount question---- still waiting for an answer! It's been three weeks or a month since the first letter.

Look in Brownell's catalog. They have front sights of varying heights that should go in your dovetail.

Give Nolan or Tracy at Wichita Arms a call and ask about their 70/80 rear sight. Their dedication to quality and precision takes a back seat to no one. That and their just doggone good people.

Fusion firearms sell some very nice fiber optic front sights for the 1911 frame.

There are all sorts of after market sights for 1911's. My personal favorates for target type are LPA or Millet. Get a front/rear set. Of course there is always Novak or Bo-Mar for combat type sites.
